Hello, my name is Kristal Gill PMHNP-BC, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, insomnia, and other psychiatric concerns.

My approach combines evidence-based medication management with supportive therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, coping skill development, emotional regulation strategies, and trauma-informed care.

My approach focuses on creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment journey. I believe in combining evidence-based treatment, medication management, and supportive therapeutic approaches

First session

During your first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing your current concerns, symptoms, stressors, mental health history, medical history, and treatment goals. This initial evaluation is designed to help me gain a full understanding of your emotional, behavioral, and overall mental health needs so we can develop a personalized treatment plan together. You can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you are encouraged to speak openly and honestly about your experiences. We may discuss areas such as mood changes, anxiety, sleep, trauma history, relationships, coping skills, medications, and any previous mental health treatment. If appropriate, we will also review medication options,

Strengths

What stands out most about my therapeutic approach is my commitment to providing compassionate, individualized, and practical mental health care that meets clients where they are. I believe treatment should be collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping clients feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout their healing process. My approach combines evidence-based medication management with supportive therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, coping skill development, emotional regulation strategies, and trauma-informed care. I focus not only on symptom reduction but also on improving overall functioning, relationships, stress management, sleep, and quality of life.

Ideal clients

I work well with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, insomnia, emotional dysregulation, irritability, grief, and difficulty coping with life transitions. I also have experience supporting individuals with psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders, behavioral agitation, and cognitive decline. Many of the patients I serve are seeking emotional stability, improved coping skills, better sleep, reduced anxiety, healthier relationships, and an improved quality of life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my clinical experience, CBT techniques are frequently incorporated into medication management visits and supportive therapy sessions, especially in outpatient and long-term care settings. I use CBT to assist patients in identifying negative automatic thoughts, cognitive distortions, catastrophizing, excessive worry, and self-defeating beliefs that contribute to emotional distress and impaired functioning. Many patients benefit from learning how their thought patterns influence mood, anxiety, irritability, and behaviors.

Family Therapy

In my clinical experience, family involvement is often essential when treating patients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma-related conditions, behavioral disturbances, substance use disorders, and cognitive decline. I use family-centered interventions to provide psychoeducation regarding diagnoses, medication compliance, coping skills, behavioral management, and symptom recognition. Families frequently benefit from understanding that many psychiatric symptoms are biologically and psychologically driven rather than intentional behaviors.
