David is a licensed psychotherapist and specializes in working with clients that have been struggling with long term or short term mental health challenges. He has over 15+ years of clinical experience across a variety of settings and continents including outpatient clinics, crisis intervention, inpatient psychiatric facilities, non-profits, and private practice. He has provided clinical and administrative supervision to social work students, interns, and professionals. He has a wide range of clinical experience working with individuals and families during his professional career in the following areas: Depression and Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Behavioral and Self-Discipline Challenges, Self-Harm Behavior, Complicated Grief Reactions, Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness, Anger and Stress Management, Trauma and Abuse, Family and Relationship Issues, Children/Adults with Special Needs, Suicidal and Risk Reduction, Chronic Mental Illness, and Self-image and Self-Esteem Issues. My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I don't take a one size fits all approach when meeting with a client. I specialize in the individual that I am meeting with, and getting to know you. Each person is unique and has their own life story that has made them who they are today. I am trained and utilize cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, rational-emotive therapy, relational, and trauma therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first therapy session, we'll begin discussing your reasons for seeking therapy. This initial conversation is designed to help you feel heard and understood. We'll also talk about your current concerns, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. By the end of this session, you'll have a better understanding of the process, and we’ll have laid the groundwork for a supportive and collaborative relationship. This foundation will give you peace of mind, knowing that you have a safe space to explore and address your challenges. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths lie in my adaptability and breadth of knowledge. I tailor my approach to suit each individual's unique needs, drawing from a wide range of therapeutic techniques. This allows me to provide personalized and effective support. Additionally, my warm and caring nature helps create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings. These strengths enable me to foster meaningful and lasting progress in therapy.

My treatment methods

Psychoanalytic

In our sessions, I use psychoanalysis to explore the deeper layers of your mind. We'll delve into your unconscious thoughts, feelings, and past experiences, which may be influencing your current behavior. This process helps us uncover repressed emotions and conflicts, bringing them to the surface, where they can be addressed and understood, leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In our sessions, I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. We'll work together to understand how your thoughts affect your emotions and actions, and develop practical strategies to overcome challenges. This approach is focused on the here-and-now, empowering you with tools to manage your thoughts and behaviors effectively.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy in our sessions will help you gain deep insights into your unconscious mind, uncovering hidden emotions and past experiences influencing your current behavior. By bringing these to light, you'll experience greater self-awareness and emotional relief. Ultimately, this process will help you develop healthier patterns, leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
