Erin Loehner
Hi! My name is Erin and I'm a licensed mental health counselor. I have experience providing both individual and group counseling to the child, adolescent, young adult, and adult populations. I believe in taking a holistic approach to my work and looking at all aspects of a client’s life to help them navigate the path that is right for them.
I'll work to curate therapy sessions that make you feel safe, heard, and supported while leaning into your specific interests and needs.
Each client is an expert on their own life, so I will strive to provide a welcoming, safe space where they can feel the freedom to be completely authentic and understood. My goal is to create a space where clients have fun and enjoy coming back for each session.
First session
In their first session with me, clients can expect a friendly, welcoming face. I focus on taking the time to build rapport and getting to know you before diving into the deep end. My goal is to ensure that it is the right fit and you'll feel confident working with me to make progress towards your therapy goals.
Strengths
I create an individualized space that works best for each client. No two people are the same! I'll work to curate therapy sessions that make you feel safe, heard, and supported while leaning into your specific interests and needs. Whether we spend time chatting about your favorite reality TV show, how frustrated you are with that one coworker, or why you can't get out of your own head, I want you to feel comfortable talking about anything and everything in your therapeutic space.
Ideal clients
Some of my experience has been working in the Boston Public Schools, on a college campus with student-athletes, and in an outpatient setting. I graduated with a degree in Psychology, then attended graduate school where I received my master’s degree in Counseling, specializing in athletic counseling and clinical mental health counseling. My background includes working with clients who’ve experienced depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, life stressors, ADHD, life-transitions, and sport-related concerns. The theoretical frameworks that I typically use are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, and the Strengths-Based approach.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I consistently use CBT in my practice to help clients reframe their thought patterns.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I often use Mindfulness-Based Therapy as a way to help clients tune in with their body and to their surroundings in a way that grounds them.
Motivational Interviewing
I typically use Motivational Interviewing techniques to build rapport with clients, affirm what they're saying, and ask open-ended questions to gather information.
Strength-Based
I love taking a Strengths-Based approach to empower clients and remind them that they are more than capable of working through anything going on in their life.
Trauma-Informed Care
I utilize Trauma Informed Care in my work by creating a safe space for clients that focuses on empowerment, trust, and collaboration.
