Seeking help takes courage, and I believe everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and a little hope. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I listen carefully, explain things clearly, and make them feel comfortable enough to talk about difficult topics. I also believe that a sense of humor can be an important part of healing and coping with life's challenges. Please note that I see people ages 18-65. Also note that Grow Therapy does not allow me to prescribe stimulants for ADHD or any controlled substance. Over the years, I've worked with people from many walks of life and have learned that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health care. While medication can be an important tool, I believe lasting change often comes from developing new skills, gaining insight, and building on the strengths you already have. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, or a major life transition, my goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward.

First session

Many people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that's completely normal. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable working relationship. Most importantly, I want to hear your story. Before we talk about diagnoses, medications, or treatment plans, I want to understand who you are, what you've been through, what is working in your life, and what challenges have brought you to seek help now. Everyone's experiences are unique, and I believe good mental health care starts with listening. We'll also discuss your current concerns, personal and medical history, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. If medication is being considered, we'll review options together and discuss the potential benefits and risks. By the end of our session, my goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and to have a clearer sense of the next steps forward.

Strengths

I bring a whole-person perspective to mental health care. While medication can be an important part of treatment, I believe emotional well-being is influenced by many factors, including sleep, stress, physical health, relationships, life experiences, and the coping skills we use every day. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I work to understand the bigger picture and help clients identify practical strategies that support lasting improvement. My approach combines careful listening, evidence-based treatment, education, and thoughtful medication management when appropriate. I strive to help clients build on their strengths, develop new skills, and make informed decisions about their care.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief, or major life transitions. Many of my clients are hardworking individuals who have spent years taking care of others while putting their own needs on the back burner. I especially enjoy working with professionals, healthcare workers, first responders, caregivers, and adults who are looking for practical solutions and a collaborative approach to treatment. My ideal clients are curious about understanding themselves better and are open to learning new skills, exploring different perspectives, and making meaningful changes that support their emotional well-being and overall quality of life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients identify patterns of thinking that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, stress, or self-doubt. Together, we look at how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors affect one another and develop practical strategies that can help improve daily functioning and emotional well-being.

Supportive

Sometimes people need a safe, nonjudgmental space to talk through life's challenges. I provide support, encouragement, and guidance while helping clients build on their strengths and develop healthy ways of coping with stress and difficult emotions.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

Rather than spending all of our time focused on problems, I help clients identify what is working, set realistic goals, and take practical steps toward positive change. This approach can be especially helpful when facing life transitions, work stress, or relationship challenges.

Trauma-Informed Care

I recognize that past experiences can have a lasting impact on emotional well-being. I strive to create a safe and respectful environment where clients feel heard and supported while working at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

Psychoeducation

Understanding mental health symptoms and treatment options can reduce fear and uncertainty. I take time to explain diagnoses, medications, coping strategies, and treatment recommendations in clear language so clients can make informed decisions about their care.

Julie is very kind and listens. She shows a lot of empathy and understanding. I appreciate her understanding of medications and she is very thorough in making sure what she is prescribing will be tolerated appropriately. She includes my husband in my care and that’s important.
