New to Grow
I am a warm, down-to-earth therapist who believes you shouldn't have to edit yourself to feel understood. I work best with clients who are thoughtful, self-aware, and maybe a little tired of being told to "just stop overthinking" or "look on the bright side". My approach is collaborative and person-centered. I'm genuinely curious about your story and the experiences that have shaped how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. I integrate mindfulness, narrative, and somatic approaches to help you understand both what's happening in your mind and what your body may be trying to tell you. I especially enjoy working with adults in their 20s and 30s navigating anxiety, trauma, relationships, identity, self-worth, and major life transitions. I also have a particular interest in working with LGBTQIA+ clients and creatives. As your therapist, you can expect me to be compassionate and validating while also gently challenging you. I'm not afraid to sit with the uncomfortable stuff, laugh with you when appropriate, or say, "What if we don’t have to figure this out right now?". I want therapy to be a space where you can be honest, curious, and completely yourself.
My hope is that you leave your first session feeling a little lighter, a little more understood, and hopeful that you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. In our first session, we'll start by getting to know each other and talking about what brought you to therapy. I'll ask about what's been going on recently, what you've been struggling with, and how it's affecting your day to day life. I'll also ask some basic background and demographic questions, so I can better understand your experience and the context you're coming from. We'll also talk about what you're hoping to get out of therapy. We may identify a few areas we'd like to focus on, talk about what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, and think together about what our work can look like moving forward.
I bring a combination of warmth, curiosity, humor, and gentle honesty to my sessions. I want my clients to feel genuinely heard and understood, but I also don’t want therapy to become a place where we simply talk about the same patterns without ever exploring what might be underneath them. I'm comfortable sitting with you in the hard moments without rushing to fix, reassure, or put a positive spin on things. At the same time, I'm not afraid to gently challenge you when I notice something that may be keeping you stuck. I understand that sometimes the first step is simply having someone help you make sense of what you're experiencing. I think one of my biggest strengths is being able to meet clients where they are while still believing in their ability to grow. My goal isn't to tell you who to be or make decisions for you. It's to help you understand yourself well enough that you can make those decisions with greater confidence and trust in yourself.
My ideal clients are adults who are navigating a period of change and realizing that the ways they've coped in the past may not be working as well anymore. They may be in college, starting their careers, navigating relationships or breakups, exploring their identity, setting boundaries with family, or simply trying to figure out who they are and what they want from their lives. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware. They may spend a lot of time analyzing their feelings and trying to understand why they feel the way they do, but still find themselves in the same patterns. They may struggle with anxiety, self-worth, people pleasing, perfectionism, difficult past experiences, or the pressure to have their lives figured out. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ clients, creatives, and people who have felt like they don't quite fit into the expectations placed on them. My ideal client doesn't need to come to therapy with a clear goal or a perfect plan. They're willing to be curious about themselves, explore patterns, and try something different, even if it feels uncomfortable.
I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen carefully, understand your experiences, and support you without judgment. Together, we will explore what you are feeling, what may be getting in the way, and what you want to change. I will not tell you what you should do or assume that one solution works for everyone. Instead, I will help you better understand yourself, identify your strengths, and make choices that fit your values and goals. We will move at a pace that feels manageable for you and work together to create a supportive, trusting space where you can be honest and feel heard.
I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than feeling like they have to eliminate or control them. Together, we explore what matters most to you, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and practice responding to difficult experiences in ways that are more consistent with your values. ACT can be especially helpful when anxiety, self-doubt, overthinking, or uncertainty are getting in the way of living the life you want.
Narrative Therapy helps you explore the stories and beliefs you’ve developed about yourself and how those stories have been shaped by your experiences, relationships, and the world around you. Together, we’ll look at patterns that may no longer serve you, separate your identity from the challenges you’re facing, and create space for a more empowering understanding of yourself and your life.
Mindfulness-based therapy can help you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences without immediately judging them or feeling like you have to react to them. Together, we’ll practice slowing down, noticing what’s happening in the present moment, and creating more space between what you’re experiencing and how you choose to respond. This approach can be especially helpful when you feel caught in overthinking, anxiety, self-criticism, or emotional overwhelm. The goal isn’t to make difficult thoughts or feelings disappear, but to help you feel more grounded and better able to navigate them without letting them take over.
