Hi! I am an independently licensed social worker and graduated with my masters from The Ohio State University. I have been a therapist for the past 7 years and worked in the field for 10+ years. I enjoy working with a wide range of clients and using a variety of therapy modalities. This may include cognitive behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and so on.
Initially I will find out more about you through an assessment. Discuss symptoms, duration of the symptoms and intensity. We will then discuss a provisional diagnosis and what that means. Finally we will work out a treatment plan with your goals in mind. This may include changing unhelpful behaviors, decreasing negative mental health symptoms, regulating emotions, improving communication skills or processing thoughts and patterns of behavior.
I feel my biggest strengths are expressing my genuine interest in helping, assisting others with becoming comfortable with me and expressing my joy and sense of humor.
I love working with people from all walks of life (age, career, laid off, never worked). Clients' who want to decrease negative symptoms, unhelpful behaviors and thoughts. Sometimes we all just feel stuck, experiencing problems with regulating emotions, managing our relationships and so on.
EMDR approach believes past or recent emotionally-charged experiences may be presently influencing your emotions, thoughts, sensations, as well as the thoughts you hold about yourself. EMDR uses rapid sets of eye movement, or tapping, to help you update disturbing experiences and memories to a healthier present perspective.
