Welcome! It takes immense courage to reach out for help, and I would be honored to walk alongside you. With over 25 years of counseling experience, I have had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages across a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. My journey began supporting child and adult victims of violence, where I utilized Play Therapy and EMDR to facilitate deep healing from trauma. Later, I transitioned to working with the elderly and their families, navigating the complexities of physical transitions and end-of-life care. Today, my practice focuses on helping adults utilize Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) tools to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will explore both your past and present challenges. My focus will be building an understanding of what is interfering with your goals and—just as importantly—how your life challenges have helped forge your unique strengths. In our work together, we will focus on: Regaining Control: In a world that often feels chaotic, we will focus our energy on what we can influence: our thoughts and our actions. The Art of Co-existence: We will acknowledge that pain is an inevitable wave in the sea of human experience, but it doesn't have to be the anchor that holds you under. We will practice "witnessing" the difficult moments while simultaneously channeling our focus toward a present and future that is both peaceful and joyful. Actionable Growth: We will work to identify and release thought patterns that no longer serve you, replacing them with daily goals that make you excited to participate in the world. Supportive Guidance: I view my role as both a witness and a guide, providing a supportive environment where you can safely do the work of becoming your true, authentic self.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
Evidenced-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy, have the easiest and most effective tools which help us make positive changes in our lives. I see our emotional health the same as our physical health- the more we exercise/practice CBT tools, the stronger we get. Once we learn these tools and build them into our daily routine we have what we need to create the life we want.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
While formal training provides the techniques, I believe my greatest strength is wisdom gained from three decades of clinical practice. I have learned more from the people that I’ve worked with than any textbook could ever offer. Clients often share that they feel profoundly safe and heard in my presence. I take pride in being a lifelong learner who constantly integrates current research and science into my practice to ensure you have the most effective tools available. My approach is a blend of seasoned intuition and evidence-based strategy, helping you address: Anxiety and Depression, Unresolved Trauma, and Navigating Life Transitions.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is someone who is ready to engage with the work both inside and outside of our sessions. I am most effective with individuals who recognize that they are the ultimate architects of their own journey. Whether you need to "get moving" toward a goal or "slow down and smell the roses," I am here to provide the support and information you need. Together, we will learn which of life's waves to catch and ride, and which ones to simply watch go by.

Nancy has been amazing. She had given me a lot of tools to help me cope and recover from the trauma and abuse I have experienced.
