Tamara Fuerst
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that focuses on helping people who are experiencing anxiety or depression. I have been in this field for more than 20 years and love helping people gain control over their lives again. I work to help identify where the mind and body have gotten hung up and use a “whole person” approach to unravel the barriers in your life that have you feeling "stuck."
First session
Our initial session together is fundamentally about establishing a strong working relationship – and that begins with us getting to know each other. Therefore, our first meeting will be a gentle yet purposeful space dedicated to ensuring you feel comfortable, understood, and confident that I'm the right person to support you on your mental health journey. During this session, you can expect me to do a lot of listening and asking questions. I'll be fully present in order to gain a full understanding of what has brought you to therapy. We'll identify what main issues you're facing, exploring where you might be feeling stuck or overwhelmed. I'll be asking questions to understand what you've already tried, what has worked and what has not worked for you. This will also help me to understand your unique experiences and strengths, as well as your concerns and weaknesses. From there, we'll shift our focus to the future. I'll invite you to tell me what your main goals are during our time together. What do you truly hope to achieve? What would feeling better, more confident, or more at ease looks like for you? Your goals will be our compass to develop a comprehensive treatment plan together.
Strengths
I am able to identify that each person I work with is unique and different. So I am quick to adjust and be flexible in order to meet each person to where they are at. This also allows me to provide services and tailor make a treatment plan that actually makes a difference to each person I work with.
Ideal clients
I am open to any adult that is willing to work on their issues. I believe that therapy is an opportunity to talk to an objective third party about issues and problems that you are dealing with and are attempting to find solutions for. I believe that therapy is most effective when the client actively participates in sessions and comes up with their own solutions or plans on how to handle the conflict or difficulty that they are experiencing with the support and guidance of a therapist.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I work with individuals in a client centered approach. I follow your lead and take things at your comfort level and speed supporting you through the issues and difficulties you are experiencing in your life.
