Jesus Sandoval
I am a board-certified Nurse Practitioner focusing on psychiatric care to help patients navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other mental health concerns. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental—I believe in meeting patients where they are and creating a safe space where they feel heard and supported. I emphasize education and open communication, helping patients understand their diagnoses and treatment options while working together to find strategies that fit their lives and goals. Clients can expect to leave sessions with a clearer understanding of their mental health, practical strategies to manage symptoms, and a sense of support in their journey toward stability and wellness. Seeking support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. I provide a safe, compassionate space to help you manage life’s challenges and find balance. When you’re ready, I invite you to reach out.

Strengths
I'm board-certified as both a psychiatric and a family nurse practitioner, so I look at the whole person. I consider how your sleep, medical conditions, current medications, and stress all affect how you feel. That matters most when medications are involved, because I can make sure your psychiatric treatment works safely with everything else you're managing. Much of my experience is with adults and complex medical situations, which taught me patience and the value of listening closely. In sessions, I'm warm and collaborative. I make space for you to be heard, but I'll also be direct with you about what I'm seeing and what I think will help. You won't leave confused about your treatment plan. We decide on it together, and I explain the reasoning behind every recommendation.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult, from young adulthood through the senior years, who's ready to feel better and wants a partner in getting there. You might be dealing with depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, mood changes, trauma, or memory and thinking concerns. You might also be balancing your mental health with medical conditions and several medications. Some of my clients are trying medication for the first time and want clear answers. Others have tried treatments that didn't work and want a fresh, thorough look. I work well with people who value honest conversation, want to understand why each recommendation is made, and like to be part of the decisions. I also enjoy working with older adults and the families who support them.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT looks at how your thoughts, feelings, and actions affect each other. When you're depressed or anxious, your mind can fall into patterns like "nothing will ever get better" or "something bad is about to happen," and those thoughts can make you feel worse and pull back from life. In our visits, I help you notice these patterns and practice more balanced ways of thinking. I'll also suggest small, practical steps, such as improving your sleep habits or slowly getting back to activities you used to enjoy. When medication is part of your care, I use CBT skills alongside it, because combining the two often works better than either one alone.
