Christopher Smith
I am a dual licensed and board certified Nurse Practitioner in both Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) and Family Medicine (FNP). Prior to my work in psychiatry, I spent over 10 years working in a mix of emergency medicine, trauma care, urgent care and covering for primary care providers.
I have extensive medical background including first responder, fire/ EMS, emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, and clinical teaching.
I understand what it means to work in high stress, high demand environments. I believe in addressing mental health with the same level of focus and detail that the most complex physical health conditions require.
First session
The intake session is scheduled for 60 minutes to allow ample time to explore the background, medical history, previous mental health experiences, and current concerns. At times, the intake can go longer in order to gather as much information as possible about life events and experiences that may impact your development, or influence your behaviors and emotional responses. We will discuss the diagnosis and treatment options, including use, safety, and expectations of medications.
