Hi! My name is Marisa and I am an LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor), residing in Massachusetts. I received my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology in 2018.

My perspective is that each person is the author of their own story and therapy provides support in maneuvering this.

I have been practicing in the mental health/human services field in a variety of settings: outpatient, crisis stabilization unit, residential and have experience working with adults dealing with a wide range of mental health and substance use concerns. My focus is to be person-centered and to create a compassionate, inclusive, and trauma-informed space to allow individuals to fully express themselves. I believe that every person is the author of their own story and therapy provides support in maneuvering this. I have experience supporting individuals dealing with life stressors and transitions, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. My style is eclectic, using a combination of classic talk therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) tools as needed.

First session

During our first session, we will exchange introductions and I will focus on getting to know you and your story. We can discuss what you hope to get out of therapy. From there, we will go at your pace in discussing your biggest concerns and possible solutions. From there, our sessions can be open-ended and up to you on what you feel is the most important to discuss at the time.

Strengths

I do my best to create a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental environment and allow clients the space to process their emotions and feel validated. I utilize humor as a way to break the ice and find common ground as we get to know each other.

Ideal clients

I'm most experienced in treating symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and mood disorders and those who would like support with stress management.
