About
Welcome! I'm Marie, a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio with six years of professional experience. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate life's challenges with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I believe that everyone is on their own personal journey of growth, and sometimes we all need a little support along the way. My approach is to tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs, whether you're looking for specific skills or just a place to share your thoughts. I understand that it takes courage to seek out support and take steps to better yourself, and I'm here to support and empower you on that journey. In our sessions, you can expect a warm and inviting space where you feel heard and understood. My goal is to create a collaborative environment where we work together to achieve your personal goals. Whether you're dealing with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, or looking to boost your motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, I'm here to help. If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, I'm here to walk alongside you. Let's work together to start your journey of growth.
First session
In your first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming space where we begin getting to know each other. I’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and a bit of your background, but there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to talk about. We’ll also start to identify what you’d like to get out of therapy and begin setting some initial goals together. My focus is on helping you feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the very beginning.
Strengths
In my sessions, I bring empathy, compassion, and a nonjudgmental attitude to each session. I listen carefully, remain flexible, and meet each client where they are. I work collaboratively and support clients as they build on their strengths and work toward their goals. I am more than happy to take things at your pace.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with young adults navigating life transitions, individuals facing relationship challenges, and those looking to build self-confidence and a stronger sense of self. I also support clients who are experiencing increased anxiety or working through the effects of past trauma. I enjoy clients with goals surrounding relationships (romantic, family, and peer) and improved communication skills. A client who is engaged and open minded.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Together, we develop healthier ways of thinking and coping, supporting emotional well-being and creating positive, lasting change.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build practical skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, coping with stress, and staying present in the moment.
Positive Psychology
I use Positive Psychology to help clients focus on their strengths, build confidence, and create more balance in their lives. Together, we explore what brings meaning, joy, and fulfillment, while developing practical ways to support overall well-being and personal growth.
Gottman method
I use the Gottman Method to help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and work through challenges together. By building understanding, trust, and healthy relationship habits, I support couples in creating stronger, more satisfying relationships.
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach that recognizes how past experiences can affect thoughts, emotions, relationships, and daily life. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered as they work toward healing and growth.
