Ruthie Torres
I’m Ruthie Torres, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to creating a warm, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief and loss, self-esteem, body image, and recovery-related challenges. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should honor the whole person—not simply focus on symptoms. Together, we’ll build on your strengths, explore what may be getting in the way, and work toward greater balance, connection, and well-being.
First session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a comfortable, supportive space for our work together. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, and what you hope will be different as a result of our work. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, relationships, and current concerns, but there is no pressure to share everything all at once. Together, we’ll identify your goals and begin developing an approach to therapy that feels meaningful, manageable, and tailored to you.
Strengths
I bring warmth, compassion, curiosity, and years of experience helping people navigate complex life challenges. My approach is down-to-earth, collaborative, and nonjudgmental—I want you to feel like you can show up as yourself without having to have everything figured out. I balance empathy with gentle challenge, helping you recognize patterns, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools you can use outside of therapy. Most importantly, I see you as a whole person, not a diagnosis, and tailor our work to your individual experiences, needs, and goals.
Ideal clients
I work with individuals of all gender identities seeking individual or family therapy. My approach is whole-person, relational, and collaborative. I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem and body image concerns, and recovery-related challenges. I work especially well with clients who want to better understand themselves, strengthen relationships, recognize patterns that may be getting in the way, and make meaningful changes in their lives. Together, we’ll build on your strengths and develop practical ways to move toward greater balance, confidence, and connection.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the foundation of my approach, helping you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Because therapy is not one-size-fits-all, I also draw from other evidence-based approaches to meet your individual needs and goals. Together, we will identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools for managing emotions, improving relationships, and navigating life’s challenges. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on helping you create meaningful, lasting change.
