Hi, I'm Heather, a Licensed Professional Counselor providing telehealth therapy to adults and couples in Oregon and Florida. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine relationship where you can show up exactly as you are—without fear of judgment—while also being challenged to grow. I strive to create a space where you feel truly seen, understood, and accepted, while helping you move away from shame and toward greater self-acceptance and confidence. I especially enjoy working with trauma, anxiety, relationship concerns, intimacy and sexuality, veterans, neurodivergent adults, religious trauma, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those in the BDSM/Kink and consensual non-monogamy communities. I believe everyone deserves therapy where they don't have to educate their therapist before they can begin healing. I'm genuine, down-to-earth, and I use humor often because sometimes laughter can be just as healing as tears. Outside of therapy, you'll usually find me reading, playing video games, watching anime, tending my garden, spoiling my pets, or planning my next Halloween Horror Nights trip. I also love weaving clients' own interests into therapy. Whether it's video games, books, art, music, fitness, Dungeons & Dragons, or another hobby, I believe healing is often more meaningful when it connects to the things that already bring you joy and help you feel like yourself.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is about getting to know you—not trying to "fix" everything in one appointment. We'll explore what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're facing, your strengths, and what you hope will be different in your life. I'll answer any questions you have about therapy, and together we'll begin creating goals that feel meaningful and realistic. Most importantly, I want you to leave our first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful that change is possible.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I'm an active therapist, not someone who simply listens and nods. I'll challenge you with compassion, offer honest feedback, ask questions that encourage deeper reflection, and help you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I believe insight is important, but insight alone doesn't create change. My role is to help you understand why you're stuck, challenge the beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve you, and equip you with practical tools to move forward. Therapy with me extends beyond our conversations. I regularly provide reflection prompts, worksheets, reading recommendations, podcasts, videos, and other resources tailored to your goals so you can continue making progress between sessions. These aren't "homework" for the sake of being busy—they're practical tools designed to help you apply what we're discussing to your everyday life. Because every client is different, I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, parts work, and solution-focused interventions. I tailor treatment to fit you rather than expecting you to fit a particular therapy model. I also enjoy using clients' passions as therapeutic tools. Whether we're comparing nervous system responses to a video game mechanic, exploring resilience through a favorite book or anime character, or building routines around hobbies you already enjoy, I believe therapy is most effective when it feels relevant to your life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves and is open to actively participating in the therapeutic process. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, shame, identity exploration, intimacy concerns, life transitions, or feeling "stuck" in patterns they can't seem to break. I especially enjoy working with adults, couples, veterans, neurodivergent individuals, and those within the LGBTQ+, BDSM/Kink, and consensual non-monogamy communities. I strive to provide an affirming, judgment-free space where clients don't have to educate their therapist before they can begin healing. The clients who tend to thrive with me are curious, willing to reflect honestly, and open to trying new skills between sessions. They want more than someone to simply listen—they're looking for a collaborative therapist who will provide feedback, challenge them with compassion, and help them create meaningful, lasting change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps us understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop practical skills that support healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and responding.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts and feelings, ACT helps you learn how to respond to them differently. We'll focus on accepting what you can't control, making room for uncomfortable emotions, and taking meaningful action that aligns with your values.

EMDR

EMDR is an evidence-based approach for processing traumatic or distressing experiences that continue to affect you today. It helps the brain reprocess difficult memories so they become less overwhelming, allowing you to move forward without feeling trapped by the past.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

We all have different "parts" of ourselves that developed for a reason. Together, we'll explore these parts with curiosity rather than judgment so you can better understand yourself, heal old wounds, and create more balance internally.

Sex Therapy

I provide a nonjudgmental, affirming space to explore intimacy, desire, communication, sexual concerns, and relationship dynamics. Whether you're navigating desire discrepancies, shame, sexual functioning, kink/BDSM, consensual non-monogamy, or exploring your identity, we'll work together to understand what's getting in the way and build healthier, more satisfying connections. My goal is to help you approach sexuality with greater confidence, self-acceptance, and open communication.
