I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. I received my Master's in Social Work from St. Louis University in 1997. Since then, I have been working in the community focusing on various forms of crisis intervention. This can include issues affecting someone's day to day function, such as, self-esteem, school/job stress, life transitions and other things that can often lead to suicidal ideations, depression, anxiety etc. My style can be described as energetic and assertive. I want to focus on the issues that are causing barriers to happiness and self-fulfillment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I will ask for a history of presenting issues to get a sense of what we should focus on in sessions. This may include asking about the family you grew up in, your current living situation and current employment etc. My goal is to get to know you as best I can in a short amount of time so we can get down to the business of your happiness.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am honest, approachable, easy going and driven to make the most of each session. I use my sense of humor A LOT but I can also be focused and serious. I use a lot of my own experiences in helping work through what others are going through. For example, I have a special interest in peri-menopause and menopausal issues based on what I've experienced.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work best with individuals who are honest, open and comfortable with self-exploration. I can be described as pushy because I don't shy away from the big issues I see causing impairment. My goal is to help others work through emotional blockages in order to achieve contentment. Everyone deserves to function as their best self.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I have 27 years experience as an LCSW working in multiple settings, including hospitals, community clinics, private practice and schools. My approach can be described as solution focused brief therapy and problem solving therapy (CBT). My perspective is that symptoms can often be understood as the negative consequences of ineffective coping. Therefore, I am all about identifying what is causing distress and working to alleviate unhappiness as much as possible. I believe everyone deserves to attain happiness and that sometimes you have "get out of your own way," so to speak, in order to maximize personal contentment. I don't believe in beating around the bush and I am very direct in helping you do just that, to get out of your own way.
