Lavonne Womack
Hello, I’m Lavonne Womack, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’m a compassionate, down-to-earth person who believes in meeting people where they are. My professional and life experiences have taught me the importance of resilience, support, and having a safe place to talk. I want my clients to feel comfortable, heard, and supported as we work together toward positive change. For clients who desire it, I am also comfortable incorporating faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process.
First session
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin the intake process. I’ll ask about what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant past history, supports, and what you hope to gain from counseling. We’ll also begin identifying your goals and discuss how we can work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable as we build a trusting, supportive therapeutic relationship.
Strengths
I bring compassion, life experience, honesty, and a practical approach to my sessions. I know that life can bring both rewarding and difficult seasons, and those experiences have helped me become a better listener and a more understanding clinician. I create space for clients to feel heard without judgment, but I also believe growth sometimes requires gentle challenge. I will support you, encourage you, and when appropriate, help you look at situations from a different perspective so you can move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Ideal clients
I work with adults 18 and older who are experiencing anxiety, burnout, life transitions, caregiving stress, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, or challenges related to autism and neurodivergence. I work well with clients who want a supportive and nonjudgmental space, but who are also open to self-reflection, practical strategies, and gentle challenge when needed. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions, and I can incorporate spirituality into therapy when it is meaningful to the client.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we’ll identify thought patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, stress, burnout, or low self-esteem. We’ll challenge unhelpful thoughts and build practical coping skills to help you respond to difficult situations in healthier ways and feel more confident managing everyday challenges.
Motivational Interviewing
Through Motivational Interviewing, I help clients explore changes they may be considering and better understand what may be holding them back. Together, we’ll talk through your concerns, strengths, and personal reasons for change without pressure or judgment. We’ll work to build confidence and identify realistic steps that feel meaningful and manageable for you.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My approach to Person-Centered Therapy is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. We’ll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you as we explore your concerns, strengths, and goals. My role is to support you as you gain greater insight, confidence, and trust in your ability to make positive changes.
