Hi, I'm Amy. There is no set approach to mental health care, individualized care is a key component to successful treatment. I am committed to helping clients manage everyday stressors. Setting goals and working towards meeting those goals, while addressing the needs of your mind and body, is key. Seeking help can feel scary and overwhelming, however you are making an important choice to become the best version of yourself. We're in this together!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session with me, clients can expect to discuss their reasons for seeking mental health care, their current challenges and concerns, and their goals for treatment. I will also gather some background information about their personal history, relationships, and any previous experiences with treatment. Additionally, I will provide information about a variety of helpful tools including medication management, address any questions or concerns the client may have, and collaboratively work with them to develop a treatment plan that will guide our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, you will be able to recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to serve clients who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives and are seeking support to address a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and personal growth. I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, including different age groups, ethnicities, and cultural identities.

My treatment methods

Supportive

In my practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I use supportive therapy as a foundational approach, particularly for patients who may not be ready for more intensive therapeutic modalities or who need ongoing support alongside other treatments. Here's how I typically incorporate it: Initial Sessions: I focus on building rapport and understanding the patient's unique experiences and challenges. I offer reassurance and validation to help them feel heard and understood. Ongoing Sessions: I provide consistent emotional support and work collaboratively with the patient to identify their strengths and effective coping strategies. We explore how these can be applied to current situations, and I offer guidance and encouragement as they navigate their mental health journey. Integration with Other Treatments: Supportive therapy often complements other therapeutic interventions, such as medication management or cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). By providing a supportive framework, patients may feel more comfortable engaging with and benefiting from these additional treatments. Overall, supportive therapy is a flexible and patient-centered approach that adapts to the individual's needs and helps them build resilience and confidence in managing their mental health.
