Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out! Do you ever have those days when things are especially difficult?? Many of the people that I meet are looking for support with mental health, substance abuse, and managing traumatic events. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I also have extensive experience supporting teenagers who have experienced trauma, which led me to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Currently, I work with adults and youth, and I'm a strong believer in the mental/physical health connection. I am currently a social worker for a small hospice team in my area so am comfortable having uncomfortable conversations. I believe in strengths-based recovery that looks at all the systems that can impact us. Bits and pieces of different models incorporated together tend to have the most benefit, based on the person's needs. I have seen so many great successes! I enjoy supporting the people I work with and going through their journey with them. I am currently licensed in both IL and TN. When I am not in sessions, you will find me hiking with the doggos, road-tripping in the Jeep, and going into "Mom Mode" with my three kids. I look forward to connecting with you :)
In our first meeting, we'll focus on building rapport and getting to know each other to ensure we are a good fit for future therapy sessions. I am a firm believer that developing this relationship is essential for success in therapy. We'll start to focus on reasons for seeking therapy, and come up with a game plan for additional support. I see planning as a guideline for therapy, while being aware that therapy leads us to many types of conversations. Humor also helps!
Though I've been in the social services field for years, my niches really are trauma, substance use, and integrated health. I like learning and talking about all of these subjects because they are so interconnected. Mind/body health really is a thing!
I firmly believe that everyone has strengths that can help to manage other areas of our lives.
