My name is Jacqui; I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have a Master's in Counseling and am a doctoral candidate for my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have worked in the substance abuse treatment industry for about a decade as a clinical director and therapist. I deeply understand addiction and the physical, neurological, spiritual, component of addiction through a trauma-informed lens. I offer Christian counseling when a client wants it. I am certified to treat Borderline Personality Disorder and any trauma. I utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) when a client would benefit from that. I do a great deal of work with individuals who are searching for identity and meaning/purpose and those who are struggling with self-esteem and self-worth issues. I also work with individuals who have been a victim of domestic violence.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is a structured interview called an intake; this is where I gather information provided by you through structured questioning. This gives me the big picture of what you are dealing with so I can make a treatment plan which is essentially your road map to growth. I believe you are your own expert and I am just the tour guide.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am trauma-informed and meet every client where they are. I truly believe that we all want to live a meaningful life and utilize a variety of theoretical approaches and interventions to help you make the progress you want to achieve. I am not a therapist that only utilizes my education; I have lived experience that has helps me draw from the training and education I have received. I am a real person meeting real people where they are.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adult clients who are struggling with purpose, self-esteem and self-worth, trauma, addiction and issues of faith. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally and often help those individuals who have been told they are unworthy because of their gender identity and particularly those who have experienced religious trauma because of their gender identity. I love assisting clients develop insight and find joy in life again to live as the person they were created to be. I also supervise LPC-Associates and enjoy teaching the skills and competencies needed to serve clients with a variety of issues.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I help clients understand how disrupted attachment patterns lead to the dysfunctional attachments we experience in adulthood.

Christian Counseling

I am very skilled at blending biblical principles with evidence-based practices to deepen the experience of finding meaning and aligning your thoughts, feelings, and actions with the Word. My Bachelor and Master's degrees were obtained from a Christian university.

Trauma Informed Care

I am a Clinical Certified Trauma Professional with a deep understanding of how trauma shapes and reshapes the neural wiring in our brains and operate from the perspective that you are not wounded, you have been wired in such a way that that, until now, has kept you operating in old patterns and old identities.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am certified in DBT and strongly believe that mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness (healthy relationships) are something we all deserve and can achieve with consistent work through applied skills.

Experiential Therapy

I believe that we all desire to know our purpose in life and that we all suffer in life; it's about the meaning that we assign to that suffering that allows us to live for something greater than ourselves. Once we can determine meaning, we see symptoms decrease. This can be achieved by understanding that love and happiness cannot be chased but when we find something to love or something for which to be happy, love and happiness have found us.
