I am bringing to you the best of my knowledge, skills, training, and experience of over 40+ years in direct care in the mental health field and my commitment to support you in your healing journey through a spiritual approach. My journey in integrating Christian spirituality in therapy has been a growing process since childhood, and I find that the deepest meaning, understanding, and peace clients find is when they can touch into their spirituality to make meaning of life's challenges, disappointments, wounds, but also celebrate and appreciate their achievements and resolutions of past challenges. I am here to support you in this process through the skillful use of counseling, various methods and theories of healing, and constant compassion for your challenges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session I will take time to get to know you and the challenges and issues you are facing at this time in your life. Also, I'll learn about some of your past experiences and history of the issues, your values, and your goals for the future. We will set some goals for your therapy, and if we have the time, I may also teach you some skills for self-care, stress management, and centering. The underlying goal will be to establish a trusting relationship where you will feel safe and secure to share and explore and work toward a more peaceful and centered self.

The foundation of my self-identity as a therapist is kindness, compassion, and gentleness in the process of supporting you in your healing through psychotherapy / counseling. You re first and I am here to be a gentle support and guide in your healing journey. I promise to bring my very best knowledge and skills on your behalf so that you will feel safe and cared about throughout your therapy journey.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My focus with clients will be with adults, 21 and over to the elderly. While a spiritual belief is not required, the option to explore and develop your spirituality, and learn to apply it to your life will be available. I have extensive experience working with adults in many different life and mental health situations, and we will focus on day-to-day life challenges, changes and transitions, relationships issues, stress, and finding peace of mind. I have a specialty in working with active-duty military service members and families, veterans, as well as individuals with significant health/mental health challenges of all ages.

Faith based therapy

From a holistic model of the self, our spirituality is at the core of our identity and of our experiences in making meaning in our daily lives. I will give you the support you need to incorporate your spiritual beliefs, to explore them, and to make meaning of your life and challenges in a new and deeper way that will help you heal. My primary focus is Christian, and I welcome you to bring your prayers, scripture, struggles and challenges to deepen your faith, find your deep inner strength, and new perspectives to your life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based therapy, which is logical and easy to understand and apply in your life, with excellent results. You will learn the connection between activating events, your thoughts, beliefs, feelings, behaviors, and outcomes and consequences of your choices, while also deepening your understanding of your stuck beliefs and thinking patterns that may be keeping you from having a more fulfuling life.

Mind-body approach

From a Holistic Mind/Body approach, which also includes the spiritual and emotional and mindfulness, you will learn a template to apply to your life, as well as learn new skills to manage stress, insomnia/sleep issues, emotion dysregulation, and distress tolerance and a powerful breathing technique that can help you become very centered, peaceful and quiet within which will help you in your faith and prayer life.
