Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions and then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. I also like to gain an understanding on your expectations and ask about past experiences with therapy to learn what has worked for you and what I can do to help you get the most out of therapy. Subsequent sessions will be tailored towards your goals and expectations, however, I always welcome (and encourage) questions and feedback from my clients if they are not receiving what they need (such as homework, their progress, etc.).

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have been told that I make others feel comfortable enough to open up and be vulnerable during sessions. I like to believe I am empathetic and genuine. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of complex cases and push myself with new trainings and research on new modalities to ensure my clients are receiving up-to-date and effective treatment.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with individuals who are eager and motivated to work on themselves from any walks of life. My background consists of individual, group and family counseling for adults experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, mood disorders, self-esteem and PTSD in outpatient, inpatient and residential settings.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is focused on helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I use CBT to support clients in identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, challenging cognitive distortions, and developing more adaptive ways of coping with life’s challenges. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, I tailor CBT interventions to fit each client’s unique needs, goals, and cultural context.

EMDR

My approach to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is grounded in trauma-informed, client-centered care. I view EMDR not just as a protocol, but as a powerful therapeutic tool that, when integrated with attuned presence and strong therapeutic rapport, facilitates deep healing. I work collaboratively with clients to ensure readiness, safety, and trust before beginning reprocessing. I emphasize pacing, resourcing, and stabilization, especially when working with complex trauma. I have completed EMDR basic training through EMDRIA approved Dr.Andrew Dobo and EMDR Educators EMDR training, completed required supervision hours and clinical hours to complete the basic training requirement. I have since used EMDR therapy in my practice with clients presenting with PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, and adverse childhood experiences. I’ve guided clients through both standard EMDR protocols and modified approaches when working with dissociation or ongoing trauma. Over time, I’ve seen EMDR help clients unstick from long-held beliefs, reduce emotional reactivity, and experience transformative shifts in how they relate to themselves and their histories.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My approach to Person-Centered Therapy is rooted in the belief that every person has an innate capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding when offered the right conditions. I strive to create a therapeutic environment characterized by genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding. I view my role as a supportive guide, holding space for clients to explore their own experiences at their own pace. I trust the client’s inner wisdom and autonomy, and I tailor the therapeutic process to align with their unique values, strengths, and goals. This approach allows for deep connection, fosters self-trust, and often supports clients in accessing insights that feel self-directed and empowering. I’ve integrated Person-Centered Therapy throughout my work with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, identity exploration, relationship issues, and trauma. Regardless of the presenting issue, I’ve found that offering a nonjudgmental and accepting therapeutic relationship can be profoundly healing in itself. This foundation informs all of my work, whether I’m using other modalities like EMDR, CBT, or mindfulness-based techniques. Even when using structured interventions, I remain grounded in a person-centered stance—prioritizing the relationship, respecting client autonomy, and honoring their lived experience. Over time, I’ve seen how Person-Centered Therapy can empower clients to reconnect with themselves, clarify what matters most, and move toward greater emotional freedom and authenticity.

Motivational Interviewing

My approach to Motivational Interviewing (MI) is grounded in collaboration, empathy, and respect for client autonomy. I use MI as a way to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change, without pressure or judgment. Rather than telling clients what to do, I aim to evoke their own motivations, values, and internal reasons for change—because I believe meaningful change is most sustainable when it’s self-driven.

Strength-Based

My approach with strength-based therapy looks like working collaboratively to help clients reframe challenges, rediscover their personal agency, and reconnect with values, skills, and qualities that can support meaningful change. I also incorporate a strengths-based lens across all phases of therapy, from goal setting to intervention, which helps foster a greater sense of hope and empowerment.
