Hello, I am a therapist and social worker who strives to help my clients find improved satisfaction with life. I have been working in this field since 2006 both in outpatient and inpatient settings. If you find you are struggling currently with emotions that seem to come from your past, or fears of the future, and are ready to look for some new perspectives, therapy is likely the right place for help.
Looking for a therapist can be overwhelming and off putting. Please remember that the first step is often the hardest. You can expect to feel respected, safe and heard in your sessions.
I have worked for many years with middle and older adults who are experiencing a desire to end limiting patterns in life and move forward. Much of the growth I have witnessed in my clients has been in areas of past developmental trauma, grief and loss, adult children of alcoholic systems, need for boundaries, self care and mindfulness.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a therapy modality I prefer using with my clients, especially initially. MI creates a judgement free, open ended conversation about what truly matters to you as a person.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based, widely used therapy, that I have utilized with most of my clients and also myself! Typically CBT skills are what we think of when considering our cognitive coping skills. CBT provides a good base for understanding how thoughts, feelings and behaviors line up and impact daily functioning.
I have used Solution Focused Therapy as a treatment to address those moments when better days can be remembered or imagined but are not manifesting in the present. This type of therapy can be very helpful in returning to harmonious and pleasant daily experiences for my clients.
I have been fully trained and successfully completed EMDR training as required by EMDRIA. My clients have found the utilization of this therapy to provide improved healing from the traumatic experiences of the past, when clinically indicated for use. This is a newer therapy modality for me to offer in the last two years of my practice and I am grateful to offer this tool to clients.
Grief and loss therapy has been an offering for my practice over the last 4 years. Grief comes in many forms and loss does not always fit our expectations or the expectations of others. Support in the grief process can be very real and necessary.
