LMHC, 20 years of experience
New to Grow
“Guiding people toward resilience, balance, and hope in life’s most difficult moments.” I have always been drawn to helping people find hope and healing in the midst of life’s challenges. My approach is gentle, trauma-informed, and client-centered, as well as focuses on developing coping skills and behavior change. I integrate evidence-based practices such as Insight Oriented Empathic Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have a specialization in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA.) I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and empowering — a place where people can explore, heal, and grow at their own pace.
In the first session, I focus on what brought you to make the sometimes difficult decision to enter counseling. I also take the first session to get to know one another and explain my therapeutic approaches and begin to formulate treatment goals to guide our work together.
In addition to working directly with clients, I have acquired experience and had the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge in the field of wellness, complementary medicine and nutritional psychiatry. For a segment of my career, I managed an Integrative Medicine Center focusing on all aspects of wellness and self care which I believe greatly contributes to one's mental health and wellness. I am honored to walk alongside people on their journey, offering tools, understanding, and encouragement as they move toward greater strength and wholeness.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples and children with special needs in a variety of settings. I’ve treated a variety of clinical diagnoses and concerns including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, mood disorders, life transitions, divorce, marriage counseling, parenting, career counseling and wellness. I also have a specialization in treating sexual assault/domestic violence, and treating children with Autism and other special needs. Each experience has deepened my belief in the resilience of the human spirit.
I combine a variety of theories of counseling including CBT, insight oriented therapy, trauma and grief counseling as well as a heavy emphasis on stress management and self care including how to create and maintain wellness in body, mind and spirit. I look at the individual person and collaborate with the client to determine which treatment modality would be most effective. My therapy style encompasses building a therapeutic relationship based on compassion, empathy and then expands into insight oriented therapy and implementation of behavior changes. I have managed and marketed a Holistic Medicine Center and have gained an extensive background in wellness in addition to my formal mental health training. I also have extensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis and have worked with parents of children with Autism and other developmental disabilities.
