I have been in practice for three decades and have a vast experience helping clients through their journeys through grief, trauma and to the integration of their authentic selves within the natural framework of identity. My counseling orientation is gentle, caring and compassionate with a non-judmental attitude. I will gently challenge the patterning of thoughts and behaviors to elicit changes and at times sparingly add a touch of humor.
In our first session together, I'll hope to get a good picture, an overview of where you are in you life, where you have come from and where you want to go, a statement of your goals and what you'd like to work on. There will be time for you to ask me questions too!
My greatest strength is that I am still teachable even after decades long service in the therapy field!
I am certified in EMDR. Rest assured, that only when a client feels ready, will we undergo the process of treating trauma with this modality.
I love DBT and was intensively trained in it over twenty years ago. I love the DBT modules and worksheets and explaining how to apply them in everyday life!
Having worked for 8 years at Hospice, I learned about Wolfelt's Six Tasks of Mourning. This is important for the journey of Grief that where 'stages' were meant to be applied for the dying person stated Elizabeth Kubler-Ross prior to her death.
This is compassionate care which I emphasize in all I do !
