Felicia Thomas
Hello, I'm Felicia Thomas, a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. My practice offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and personalized treatment plans for adolescents and adults experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, and other mental health concerns. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to achieve lasting mental wellness through collaborative, patient-centered care.
First session
During your first appointment, we'll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brought you to seek care. We'll review your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, lifestyle, and any previous treatments you've tried. My goal is to gain a thorough understanding of your concerns while creating a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported. By the end of the session, we'll discuss any diagnoses that may apply, review treatment options, and develop a personalized plan based on your goals. This may include medication recommendations, therapy referrals, lifestyle strategies, or additional assessments if needed. You'll have plenty of time to ask questions, and we'll work together to create a plan that feels right for you.
Strengths
My greatest strengths are my ability to listen without judgment, build genuine relationships, and provide individualized, evidence-based care. I understand that no two people experience mental health the same way, so I take the time to understand each client's story, strengths, challenges, and goals before recommending treatment. I believe clients should feel like active partners in their care, and I prioritize open communication, education, and shared decision-making throughout the treatment process. What sets my approach apart is my commitment to treating the whole person—not just the diagnosis. As both a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, I consider how physical health, lifestyle, stress, relationships, and medical conditions may affect mental well-being. I provide thoughtful medication management while encouraging healthy coping strategies, therapy when appropriate, and practical tools that support long-term success. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting progress.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults who are ready to better understand their mental health and take an active role in their treatment. I am best positioned to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, and other mood or trauma-related conditions. I also work with clients who are struggling with stress, burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, or difficulty balancing work, school, and family responsibilities. Many of my clients come to treatment feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or frustrated after trying to manage their symptoms on their own or feeling that previous treatments haven't fully addressed their needs. Whether you are seeking an evaluation for the first time, looking for medication management, or hoping to improve your overall emotional well-being, I provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to your unique circumstances and goals. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that helps you build resilience, improve daily functioning, and create lasting, meaningful change.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my medication management visits by helping clients identify the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier ways of responding to stress, and practice practical coping strategies that can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. While my primary role is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, I integrate brief CBT-based interventions during appointments and encourage clients to apply these skills between visits. When a client would benefit from more intensive psychotherapy, I collaborate with or refer to licensed therapists who specialize in CBT to provide comprehensive, ongoing treatment. My goal is to combine evidence-based medication management with practical therapeutic strategies that support lasting emotional wellness.
