In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Therapy invites you to explore your truth and live a genuine and fulfilling life. The therapeutic journey can be both challenging and transformative, as we uncover insights that may be painful yet profound. Together, we will work towards breaking free from old patterns, revealing your true self, and providing you with the tools to challenge what isn't working, ultimately building a life filled with peace, love, and fulfillment. I will support you in understanding how your past influences your present and help you develop stronger connections and intimacy. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, supportive, and honest environment, where I provide meaningful feedback rather than simply listening and repeating. My holistic approach is tailored to your individual needs and incorporates affirming compassion and humor. I am dedicated to this work and committed to assisting you in your healing journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and have been helping people achieve their goals for over 21 years. I am a two-time cancer survivor (breast and thyroid) and have learned firsthand the importance of self-care, self-compassion, positive coping strategies, and having a support system to rely on. I have been practicing reiki for 3 years and recently became a Reiki Master. I love sharing my love of reading, hula hooping, crystals, essential oils, making my own salves, lotions, sugar scrubs, etc. and I am a self-professed cat lady.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I strongly believe in a holistic wellness approach to working with people. Using EMDR, reiki, and other therapeutic interventions to serve your mind, body, and soul allows me to see you as a whole person. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, disability-related barriers, PTSD, cancer, hearing loss, or other stressors I am here to support you! I am a licensed professional counselor and certified rehabilitation counselor with over 20 years of trauma-informed counseling experience providing a compassionate approach using a variety of individualized therapeutic interventions.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy can help reduce the severity of stress and anxiety in less time than traditional talk therapy. It is generally assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that our minds have the ability to heal from emotional trauma much like our bodies heal from physical trauma. We are hard wired to heal ourselves both physically and psychologically. The 1st step is to create a calm state using bilateral stimulation and all of your senses to promote relaxation, peace, and self-care.

Compassion Focused

Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) helps those who struggle with shame, low self-esteem. self-criticism, etc. often due to abuse or neglect. CFT teaches clients to develop skills of self-compassion and self-love which are thought to help regulate mood and lead to feelings of safety, self-acceptance, and peace. The technique is similar to mindfulness-based cognitive therapy techniques that also encourage the mind-body connection and how to practice mind and body awareness and acceptance.

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy is a personalized and flexible approach to therapy that can be adapted to the unique needs of each client, depending on the issues, treatment goals, and the client’s expectations and level of motivation. I pull from a variety of disciplines and use a range of evidence-based strategies to determine the best combination of therapeutic tools to help clients.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) shows how distorted thinking and learned unhelpful behaviors contribute to psychological problems. Changing these thoughts (cognitive) and behaviors leads to improved emotional health. CBT helps clients learn skills to change negative thought patterns to improve how they feel and act.
