Perry Leynor

2 years of experience

As a mental health practitioner, my approach to treatment is deeply rooted in the belief that every person is unique and deserves to be heard. I view each individual as an intricate mosaic of experiences, emotions, and thoughts that have shaped their present state. My treatment philosophy is eclectic, drawing from a variety of theoretical orientations to create a personalized approach that meets the unique needs of each client. However, my approach always centers around the importance of active listening and empathic understanding. I believe that truly hearing and understanding a person's story is the key to unlocking the potential for growth and change. In my practice, I prioritize creating a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can feel comfortable sharing their experiences. I recognize that each person's journey is different, and I strive to be flexible and adaptable in my approach. Whether using cognitive-behavioral techniques, humanistic therapy, or mindfulness-based interventions, my goal is always to tailor treatment to the specific needs and goals of the individual. Above all, I believe in the power of human connection and the transformative potential of truly being seen and heard. By recognizing the uniqueness of each person's experience and validating their feelings, I aim to help clients build resilience and a deeper sense of self-awareness. I am committed to supporting my clients as they navigate the complexities of life, and I feel privileged to be a part of their journey towards greater well-being.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My approach is centered on helping clients develop the skills they need to navigate life's challenges and engage in their values. I believe that clients are the ultimate experts in their own experiences and that my role is to support them in building greater self-awareness and insight. My ultimate goal is to empower clients to become their own therapists by providing them with the tools and insights they need to make positive changes in their lives. In therapy, I work with clients to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness about their behaviors and relationships. By raising awareness about negative thought patterns and unhealthy coping strategies, clients can learn to identify and challenge them on their own. Through this process, clients become more equipped to take control of their own mental health and navigate life's challenges with greater ease and resilience. My hope is that by working together, clients can cultivate the skills and insights they need to live a more fulfilling life.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I specialize in evidence-based therapy, utilizing a variety of methods and tools to help clients navigate challenges and achieve their goals. I am trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders, cognitive-behavioral therapy for identifying and challenging negative thinking patterns, and mindfulness-based interventions for greater self-awareness and emotional regulation. Additionally, I incorporate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients move towards valued life goals, and clinical behavior analysis approaches to identify and modify problematic behaviors and develop positive habits and routines. My goal is to help clients increase their options and find what works best for them.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a therapist, my strengths lie in creating a safe and welcoming space where clients can feel heard and understood. I go beyond just listening to what my clients say; I make a concerted effort to hear them and understand where they are coming from. I prioritize giving my clients the time and space they need to explore their thoughts and emotions in a supportive environment. I strive to learn and communicate in a way that resonates with each individual's unique experiences, which helps create a more personalized and effective therapeutic experience. I believe that hope is a crucial component of the healing process, and I make a point to impart that sense of optimism and possibility to my clients. By breaking down complex problems into manageable parts, I help my clients develop the skills and strategies they need to navigate life's challenges.
