I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & woman of color with nearly twenty years of clinical therapy & leadership experience. I have worked with diverse populations in several clinical settings over the past twenty years & utilize my warm, authentic personality to connect with my clients on a much-needed deeper level. I am compassionate, empathetic & caring while also remaining direct & honest. I believe in every client who chooses me as their therapist & I count it an honor to be a part of my client's journeys. I work to provide my clients with the tools they need for success; empowering them throughout the process. Each client is unique and this requires individualized, personable care based on each client's needs. I believe in a collaborative approach; my clients & I work together to develop goals & plans to help them thrive. Every client deserves to live the life they desire; my goal is to help clients achieve just that
I realize there may be an array of emotions that come with a first therapy session. It is important for me to create a warm, welcoming, validating space for my clients. I come from a place of curiosity; I seek to get to know & understand my clients as individuals based on what is comfortable for them to share. I recognize that in that initial space, we are strangers so it is important to talk a little about the therapy process; and what we both hope to see happen as a result of our work together and hopefully form an agreement on how to get there. It's equally important for me to share a bit about who I am, my experience, practice approach.
I am a skilled & competent professional woman of color with a huge heart for people. I am passionate about human connection and believe it is the catalyst for change. I utilize my warm, compassionate & fun personality coupled with being clinically adept to support & guide my clients to the life they desire to live in the most authentic form.
My years of working with individuals struggling to accept & work through uncomfortable feelings utilizing ACT as a treatment modality have proven effective. I work authentically with clients on developing self-acceptance & self-compassion as ways to live meaningful lives.
Cognitive Behavior therapy is one of the most commonly used treatment approaches and one that I utilize to assist & support clients seeking to address specific issues such as depression, anxiety, or relational issues.
I practice from the whole body approach which is known as somatic work or somatic experiences. Clinically, I have observed that when a person is experiencing unmanaged emotional challenges; they often experience physical symptoms that are interrelated, and somatic therapy can help clients make this connection discovery.
Trauma is more prevalent than we realize and oftentimes, I have found that my clients present with multiple traumas. In my work with clients using a trauma-informed approach, I support & guide clients through the complexity of trauma, how it impacts their level of functioning & the effect on one's ability to cope.
In my clinical work primarily with the BIPOC community, I support & validate my client's cultural values & beliefs. Cultural sensitivity is an integral part of my work with clients in validating their emotions & working to understand the impact of culture on individual development.
