About me

I'm a licensed clinical social worker specializing in supporting trauma survivors — especially adults who experienced emotional, physical, or sexual abuse during childhood. If this describes you or someone you care about, I encourage you to reach out and begin the healing process. I will help you feel safe and secure and move slowly and gently to resolve your issues of concern. It's remarkable that in the simplicity of a therapy relationship, profound healing can occur. Often, you will not even need to talk about the trauma in detail, but just allow yourself the gift of identifying and expressing your feelings. It's a gift you and all of us deserve! The pathway to healing is open to you and I will do my best to help you get there.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I want to get to know you better, why you are seeking therapy now, other therapy experiences, and especially your hopes about how therapy can help right now. I will also encourage you to ask me any questions you have about my practice and experience. I will explain some of my training and how it has helped me as a therapist. I will give you exercises you can do on your own to promote health and wellness. At the end of our first session, I will be able to give you a good idea of our treatment plan and how we will work together moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Through my own vulnerable childhood experiences, I learned firsthand that although the mind can confuse or conceal trauma memories — but those memories don't disappear. Those early experiences led me into the healing professions, where I have studied and personally experienced a range of highly effective therapy methods. I know that listening, asking gentle questions, and helping clients identify, express and resolve feelings is the path to healing. My training even included studying my own family system — profound and humbling work. Along the way I've also been a teacher, workshop leader, retreat leader, and writer. I'm a lifelong learner, and I'll encourage you to become one too — beginning with understanding how your own life experiences have shaped who you are today.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an adult male 50 years or older who is dealing with some serious issue, such as trauma, depression or relationship problems. I am especially dedicated to supporting older adult men who have kept their experience of early childhood or adolescent sexual abuse secret for decades. I have a lot of compassion for these men and understand the fear and shame that has encouraged this secrecy. I know what a relief it can be to finally be able to take a deep breath, identify and express the feelings associated with this abuse, and begin the healing process. It's a privilige to me to be a part of this healing experience.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

This method ensures that I focus on you feeling safe and secure at all times and able to slowly work to resolve your concerns. In this method, I may notice feelings surface and I will invite you to quiet yourself, move inward and explore what you are noticing yourself. This is a kind and gentle way to nurture the healing process.

EMDR

This method uses a structured approach to heal specific traumatic memories and/or experiences. Safety and security are important here too, but this is a more direct therapeutic method.

Experiential Therapy

Imagery is one of the most common experiential methods. It's used to teach you how to calm yourself and also to more deeply connect with specific concerns.
