Hello! My name is Tonya and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I received my Master's Degree from the University of Central Florida. During my ten years of experience in the social work field, I have worked extensively with individuals of all ages. I specialize in working with those struggling with addiction, eating disorders, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief/loss. I have worked in several settings including both inpatient and outpatient. I utilize a direct approach that is person-centered and strengths based. I am knowledgeable, skilled, and trained in various models and interventions including dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, enhanced cognitive behavior therapy, and post traumatic growth approach. My hope is to assist others to find a happier and healthier path along their journey in life.
What can you expect from our initial meeting and moving forward? During out initial session, I will gather information about you, and the reason you are seeking counseling. The next two sessions will consist of developing your goals and plan for treatment. If appropriate, I will assign homework which assists in creating accountability on your part. Typically, weekly sessions are recommended; however, that can look different depending on your needs. I will "meet you where you are". We will explore where you want to be. I will do my best to help you and be your agent of change as you walk through to your place of healing.
I utilize cognitive behavior therapy, enhanced cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused approach, person-centered approach, strengths based approach, and post traumatic growth intervention.
From my experiences, my greatest strength is cognitive restructure, motivation, and empowerment. I am here to help you in the area/s of your life, and I am honored to be trusted by you and to help you on your journey toward the life you are seeking.
