Hello and welcome. My name is Kambui and my pronouns are he/him. I am an African American cisgender male. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and master's level Assessment Specialist. I am adept at multicultural counseling. I am a person, like you, who has lived real-life experiences that have impacted me in various ways, and on multiple levels. My unique experiences allow me to be easily relatable. I am empathic and listen without judgment. Nothing we discuss will shock me or diminish the unconditional respect and positive regard deserving of all people. I operate in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical practice and confidentiality.
I have worked as a community and home-based therapist, school therapist, in hospital, clinical and outpatient settings and private practice during the course of my 11 years of practice. I am skilled in a variety of treatment methods and areas including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship counseling.
I look forward to the opportunity of working collaboratively with you to help resolve anything that is a current barrier to your emotional, physical, mental and overall well-being in your personal, professional, or social functioning.
I believe everyone has certain abilities and gifts that lead them to their calling. With that in mind, I became a therapist because I wanted to help people achieve their full potential in a world where too many people feel unsupported and alone. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families and groups who are open to new ways of thinking and being, and motivated to change. Side note: I am an avid sports fanatic (including some unique ones; curling is one of my favorites!), and i am an enthusiastic dog parent.
While working with my clients, I strive to provide them a relational space where they feel inspired, encouraged, and empowered to overcome their challenges. I have significant experience and training in Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, and work well with individuals and families dealing with long-term and complex issues.
You have the power to start your healing process today. From the moment you choose to reach out for help, you’re already charting a better future for yourself and your family. I am currently accepting new clients and encourage you to reach out to schedule an initial session.
I bring extensive experience from various settings, including treatment centers, community programs, group therapy, and correctional facilities, where I've had the privilege of working with adolescents, young adults, and adults. My approach is rooted in evidence-based therapies, tailored to support meaningful behavioral changes. I deeply understand the mental health challenges that can emerge from incarceration and the unique stressors that accompany the journey of rebuilding life afterward.
I’m also dedicated to supporting the family members and loved ones of those struggling with addiction or incarceration, helping them navigate their own emotional journeys with compassion and care. Additionally, I work closely with parents and families of children with complex behavioral issues, providing guidance and support to help them create a nurturing environment for their child’s growth and well-being.
In addition to this, I have experience helping clients through significant life transitions, such as starting a family, navigating college, or going through a divorce. I understand how overwhelming these changes can be and am here to provide empathetic support and practical tools to help my clients find stability and confidence during these times. I’m committed to walking alongside my clients and their families as they navigate these difficult transitions, offering understanding and support every step of the way.
