Hello! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana with more than 26 years of experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges. I earned my Master’s degree from Purdue University and have worked in both clinical and private practice settings, providing compassionate, evidence-based care. My current focus is helping adults navigate life stressors, manage mental health symptoms, and improve their overall quality of life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, facing a transition, or simply seeking greater balance and clarity, I strive to create a supportive, collaborative space where you can feel heard and understood. If you’re looking for guidance and steady support, I would be honored to work with you. I offer teletherapy appointments with flexible daytime, evening, and weekend availability to meet your needs.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we’ll take time to get to know one another and review what you can expect from the counseling process. I’ll ask questions to better understand what’s been weighing on you and what you hope to gain from therapy. This conversation helps ensure that I fully understand your concerns, strengths, and goals. Together, we’ll develop a thoughtful, individualized treatment plan that aligns with your needs and priorities. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, supported, and clear about the path forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am a genuine, "real" person who is committed to providing an experience where you feel heard, respected and hopeful. Clients who are anxious about talking with a therapist have often said how comfortable they feel with me after our first session.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am passionate about helping adults rediscover their strengths, shift unhelpful patterns, and develop a healthier, more compassionate view of themselves. Together, we can work toward meaningful changes that lead to a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a valuable tool that can assist you in recognizing and transforming unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. By bringing understanding into the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, you can be empowered to implement effective coping tools. This results in feeling "better" by improving your mood and quality of life.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing is a counseling approach that focuses on the individual, helping you navigate feelings of uncertainty when it comes to making changes in your life.

I have been blessed to have picked JoAnn from my very first session with Grow Therapy. She has been very thoughtful in our discussions, she listens well and helps me to see other ways of looking at things. She gives me homework that isn’t necessarily easy but is part of my growing and moving forward. She has helped me understand why I may do certain things and how to trade the negative to positive. She has been great to work with.

Very professional. I did not feel rushed during our session. She lined out the expectation of the session and future sessions from the start and didn’t get off track. She is very pleasant and warm and inviting to speak with.
