Change and growth don’t have to feel scary, because I assist my clients in utilizing their strengths to take back their power! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I graduated from Mercer University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After 5+ years of working in community mental health both at the inpatient and outpatient levels, I have gained invaluable experience working with individuals from multicultural backgrounds and with various severe mental health diagnoses. My clients can see that I am passionate about assisting them in healing wounds and navigating the next chapters in life. My experience includes treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, postpartum, racial issues, life transitions, relationship conflict, bipolar disorders, substance abuse, and more. I am EMDR trained and currently use EMDR in my practice.
Clients can expect to breathe a sigh of relief by feeling safe and heard in the therapeutic space. I want my clients to feel in control of their treatment by identifying their goals and which issues to address first. Therapy can be difficult, but I want my clients to have a peace of mind knowing that I am passionate about walking alongside them in this journey. Healing isn't linear, but I am with my clients throughout the their healing journey through the ups and downs.
My greatest strength as a therapist is meeting clients where they are at in their journey. Sometimes clients realize they aren't ready to dive into certain issues right away and that's okay! I am empathic, encouraging, and motivating, but I also hold my clients accountable to do the work to reach their desired goals.
I work adults 18+ in individual therapy navigating challenges including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, postpartum, racism, life transitions, relationship conflicts, self esteem, and more. I am EMDR trained and enjoy assisting clients in healing from negative memories by allowing the brain to process the events that are stuck in the nervous system. I work with clients no matter where they are in their healing journey to set goals to their needs.

EMDR
Do you feel stuck in the present moment due to past trauma and/or negative beliefs about yourself? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy helps the brain process and heal from negative memories, thoughts, and feelings. Bilateral stimulation is utilized in EMDR to activate both sides of the brain to process the events that are stuck in the nervous system. EMDR is an effective form of therapy for various forms of abuse, recent incident trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, pain, and more. "You can outdistance that which is running after you, but you cannot outdistance that which is running inside of you." - African Proverb
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. CBT works well with clients who struggle with irrational thinking patterns, negative thinking patterns, feelings, and/or behaviors to challenge and reframe these thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT offers various skills for clients to add to their toolboxes.
Grief Therapy
I have been able to utilize Grief Therapy to assist clients in managing their various forms of loss (death, relationships, pets, job, housing, etc). I walk alongside clients and meet them where they are at in their grieving process. Grief has stages, but it also looks different for each individual and I am willing to walk that journey with my clients.

My first session was welcoming, thoughtful, and supportive. I appreciate Sydney's ability to ask the right questions and help me find the words to explain my needs. I feel encouraged that I am in safe hands.

Always feel encouraged to continue on when I leave my appointment. Sydney makes me feel comfortable sharing what's truly causing my issues in life, work, and school.

Sydney is very easy to talk to and share feelings, stories, problems, etc with. She cares about me. I am not just a client to her. I am a person, not just a number on a chart. Also, she has been extremely helpful with my goals in therapy--setting my goals, working towards my goals, and reaching my goals.
