I can help you to learn the skills to understand and cope with your emotions in a safe way, and to express them clearly enough that the people around you can truly hear you and understand how to support you. Together, we can build on the strengths that you already have to help you take back control of your emotions and your relationships. I provide a DBT-informed therapy which focuses on developing DBT skills including distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation and mindfulness. These skills can allow you to cope with intense emotions, make those emotions less intense overall, speak up for yourself in a way that gets your voice heard, and stay present in the moment.
I use principles of feminist therapy that acknowledge the impacts of systemic oppression on your capacity to realistically reach your therapy goals. I work patiently to address the situations we can change, and accept the ones we can’t.
I bring an integrative blend of multiple different techniques to treat you as an original and unique individual. I apply the knowledge and skills that I have learned throughout my education, and combine it with the core interpersonal skills that have served me well all my life, to deliver evidence-based interventions with an authenticity that allows you to feel understood.
My ideal client is an individual who is prepared to take an honest look at their emotional landscape and explore how their past experiences and belief systems have shaped it thus far. They are open to feedback while also standing firm in their knowledge as the only expert in their own lives. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, and it is always so rewarding to see people begin to learn themselves even more deeply.
