Hi there, I am glad you are here. My name is Amanda and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Minnesota. I received my degree at North Dakota State University (NDSU) and have been in the mental health field for 5 years. Due to my experience in a hospital setting and community mental health center, I have comfortability working with individuals from all walks of life, whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, marital stress or anything interfering with your quality of life. I am here to meet you where you are at and work alongside you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, you can expect that we will get to know each other, identify what is impacting you and making sure we are a good fit. Gathering this information allows for me to expand the lens in which I look through, gearing my approach to you and your needs. This allows for us to create a focused plan moving forward to best help you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with such a variety of different stressors and challenges people face, I have developed a strong ability to work with you on your biggest concerns while making sure each session is devoted to you and your goals. Our work together will increase your awareness about who and what is important to you as well as how to create goals that mesh with your values and your identified meaning and purpose.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have been using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in my practice for about 2.5 years. This therapy allows clients to become aware of what matters most to them as well as gain control of how they react to thoughts, feelings and situations. We will use this therapy to identify your values, what you are working toward and what brings you meaning and a sense of purpose.

Humanistic

I have been using a Humanistic approach in my practice for 3 years. This approach allows for me to have unconditional positive regard for my clients. We will use this therapy to meet you where you are at and allow your voice to be heard through active listening to determine what you want to work on/area you want to grow in.

Couples Counseling

I have been doing couples counseling for 2 years and incorporate The Gottman Method as well as Integrative Sex and Couples Therapy. We will use this method to allow for couples to improve in understanding their communication with one another, being able to express and ask for needs as well as growing their appreciation for one another.

Eclectic

I refer to eclectic as an individualized approach of meshing treatment methods together in a way that works best for each client.
