I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) who uses narrative therapy practices and EMDR, an evidence-based trauma therapy, to support queer and trans young adults and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and other forms of distress connected to trauma. If you are already engaged in regular therapy but are looking to add adjunct EMDR therapy to address traumatic experiences, I can work with you and your current therapist.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will talk about what's bringing you to therapy and about your hopes for therapy. We'll go through a biopsychosocial assessment where we discuss how things are going in the different areas of your life (like with relationships, work or school, sleep, health, hobbies, creative practices, for example). Finding a therapist who is a good fit can be a process, and I expect that we will continue to check out if we're a good fit to work together throughout the first few sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have worked on multi-disciplinary teams across school, hospital clinic, psychiatric emergency, and outpatient clinic settings since I graduated with my MS in Counseling in 2016, and I draw on these varied experiences in the mental health field to support my private practice clients.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I focus on working with LGBTQ+ individuals, both teenagers and adults, who are navigating experiences of anxiety, depression, and distress related to traumatic experiences.

My treatment methods

Narrative

I use narrative therapy practices to help my clients explore the effects of problems that are showing up in their lives. We consider too how dominant discourses and sociopolitical forces shape the stories we tell about ourselves and others to understand our relationships and the world.

EMDR

I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based therapy for treating distress caused by traumatic events, whether the trauma is tied to a single event (such as an accident or assault) or was ongoing (such as developmental trauma/trauma from events over the course of childhood).
