I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor [LMHC] in Massachusetts with 14 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, & career difficulties. I am also a certified executive coach. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
Therapy is incredibly vulnerable, so finding a good match is so important. In our first meeting, we'll spend time getting to know each other, learning about what brought you to therapy, and getting clear on what our goals are. We'll also discuss the ethics of therapy [confidentiality, etc.] and coordinate the logistics [frequency of meetings]. To the degree that I am able to, I am also happy to share background about myself so you feel comfortable with who I am and who you'll be talking with.
My greatest strengths are my ability to help you feel listened to and safe so you can share what's truly on your mind. I am also skilled at helping you identify the root causes, unhelpful patterns, as well as collaboratively finding solutions. I am a big believer that you are the expert of your own life, and my goal is to help you realize your own strengths and capacity for growth.
I help clients gain great awareness of and understand their limiting beliefs and how they impact their current functioning. Then, together, we work to reframe those beliefs, which helps the way they view themselves and others around them and how they react and respond to everyday situations.
Originally developed for working with clients with substance abuse issues, Motivational Interviewing is an incredibly empowering approach where the client is the expert of their own lives. By integrating these approaches into everything we do, it's a way of helping clients gain deeper insights into their own barriers and finding ways to increase their motivation to make changes.
A huge factor of how we function currently is our past experiences. In this approach, I help clients understand how their past relationships and experiences usually find themselves replicated in their current life and what may be helpful and what is not helpful.
I have deep experience in complex trauma and understand the complex and diverse ways that it can show up and impact everyday life.
Sometimes, clients are looking for ways to solve a specific problem. In those cases, Solution focused therapy is a great way of staying focused on solving the problem practically and concretely without diving deeper into their history.
