New to Grow
Hello, and welcome. My name is Lakitha Thomas, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Nu Found Peace Counseling and Wellness, PLLC. I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate life’s challenges in a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem concerns, trauma-related issues, infertility-related emotional challenges, and life transitions. My goal is to help clients feel heard, supported, and empowered while developing healthy coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and creating meaningful, positive change in their lives.
During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they are encouraged to share their concerns, experiences, and therapy goals at a pace that feels comfortable for them. The session will focus on getting to know the client, discussing current challenges, exploring relevant background information, and identifying areas they would like to improve or work through in therapy. Clients can also expect an opportunity to ask questions, discuss expectations for counseling, and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship focused on support, growth, and emotional wellness.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my ability to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves and openly expressing their thoughts and emotions. I utilize evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy while tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs, goals, and life experiences. I focus on helping clients build practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, and develop confidence so they can create meaningful and lasting positive change in their lives.
I am best positioned to serve children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, emotional regulation difficulties, and trauma-related concerns. I work well with clients who are looking for a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel safe to openly express themselves. My goal is to help clients develop healthy coping skills, increase self-awareness, improve emotional wellness, strengthen confidence, and create meaningful, positive changes in their daily lives and relationships.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that impact their emotions and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, coping skills development, and problem-solving strategies to support clients in managing anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques into my practice to help clients develop healthier ways to manage emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress. I utilize skills related to mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness to support clients in building balance and improving daily functioning.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I utilize Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify their strengths, build on existing successes, and develop practical solutions to current challenges. In my practice, I focus on goal-setting, encouraging positive change, and helping clients recognize their ability to create meaningful progress in their lives.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I utilize Person-Centered Therapy by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions openly. In my practice, I emphasize empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard to help clients build self-awareness, confidence, and personal growth.
Grief Therapy
I utilize grief therapy to provide compassionate support to individuals coping with loss, helping them process emotions, adjust to life changes, and navigate the grieving process at their own pace. In my practice, I create a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their feelings while developing healthy coping strategies and emotional support systems.
