I attended the University of Tennessee for my Doctor of Nursing Practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My services include comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and medication management. I am passionate about conducting thorough assessments and giving accurate diagnoses. Every patient is unique, which is why I take a holistic approach to consider each factor of your physical and mental health to create a treatment plan tailored to you. My desire is to collaborate with you in a compassionate, nonjudgmental way to help you achieve symptom relief.
Initial Psychiatric Evaluations are completed during the first session for all new patients and last 1-2 hours. During this visit, we aim to get a holistic understanding of your overall health, collecting information about physical and mental health histories in addition to ongoing problems. We will discuss your current mental health symptoms including when they started, stressors, past or current treatment, and your treatment response. By the end of this visit, we will have collaborated together to establish your mental health goals and create a treatment plan to achieve them.
I do not believe in rushed appointments, which is why I offer 90 minute initial sessions and 30 minute followup appointments for all patients. I want to make sure we have the time needed to thoroughly discuss any symptoms or issues you are experiencing without having to make haste decisions. My approach to medication management is collaborative, meaning I discuss different treatment options and educate patients on the pros and cons of each. My goal is for you to feel confident and involved in your treatment plan. I will help guide the treatment decisions based on evidence-based practice and tailor the plan to your specific needs.
I treat teen and adult patients for diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, eating disorders, sleep issues, postpartum issues, schizophrenia, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and many more.
CBT therapy can be used to help most clients change negative thought patterns to more positive, constructive ones.
I believe psychoeducation is very important and provide it at every session, especially to help my patients better understand how their medications work and how it is supposed to help them.
I provide brief solution-focused therapy for patients during sessions to help them sort through a specific situational problem when the need arises.
