Hello, and thanks for visiting my profile. My name is Mai, and I offer sessions both in-person and through telehealth. I understand that you might be experiencing a difficult time, whether it's a significant transition, a loss, or feelings you’re unsure how to handle. This can be overwhelming and scary, and sometimes the hardest step is acknowledging the need for help. I believe in the innate capacity we all have to heal and grow, and I am here to help you uncover this strength within yourself. Since 2013, I have worked extensively with individuals, couples, and families, helping them navigate various life challenges. Together, we will build awareness and understanding of your experiences, explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other, and develop tools to foster growth and wellness. I specialize in working with clients struggling with anxiety, stress, grief/loss, and depression. My approach is holistic, incorporating meditation and mindfulness practices to support your journey. Let's work together to find the path to your well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first intake session, clients can expect an opportunity to share their background information and discuss the reasons for seeking therapy. This session is designed to gather essential details about their personal history, current challenges, and therapy goals. We will explore various aspects of their life, including relationships, work, health, and past experiences, to gain a comprehensive understanding of their situation. This initial meeting sets the foundation for our work together, ensuring that therapy is tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, my strengths lie in my ability to teach mindfulness and meditation, which are essential tools for helping clients manage stress and anxiety. I am skilled in guiding clients through anxiety-reducing techniques, empowering them to develop healthier coping mechanisms. My holistic approach ensures that clients not only address their immediate concerns but also build long-term resilience and emotional well-being. By integrating these practices into therapy, I create a supportive environment that fosters self-awareness, inner peace, and personal growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

For the past 10 years, I have utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients address and transform negative thought patterns and behaviors. Through structured, goal-oriented sessions, I have guided individuals, couples, and families in identifying the interplay between their thoughts, emotions, and actions. By using techniques such as cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, and behavioral activation, I have supported clients in managing anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma. My approach emphasizes skill-building, empowering clients to develop healthier coping mechanisms and fostering long-term emotional well-being.

Attachment-based

Over the past 5 years, I have integrated Attachment-Based Therapy into my practice to help clients understand and heal from relational and emotional wounds rooted in early attachment experiences. By focusing on the client’s relationships and attachment patterns, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families to explore how these early connections influence current behaviors and emotional responses. Through this therapeutic approach, I have supported clients in building secure attachments, improving their relationships, and developing a stronger sense of self. This integration has allowed for deeper emotional healing and enhanced the overall effectiveness of my therapeutic work.

Integrative

Recently, I studied Integrative Relational Therapy to enhance my expertise in working with couples. This approach combines elements of various therapeutic modalities to address the unique dynamics and challenges within relationships. By integrating techniques from cognitive-behavioral, attachment-based, and emotion-focused therapies, I aim to help couples develop deeper emotional connections, improve communication, and resolve conflicts more effectively. This advanced training has enriched my practice, allowing me to offer a more comprehensive and tailored approach to supporting couples in achieving healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
