I’m Dr. Kettelene McMorris, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in hospital medicine, and founder of Rodaphne Advanced Healthcare Provider. I believe mental health care should begin with understanding the person behind the symptoms—not simply assigning a diagnosis. My approach brings together psychiatry and whole-person healthcare, recognizing that emotional well-being is deeply connected to physical health, relationships, culture, environment, and everyday life. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and adults. Together, we develop an evidence-based treatment plan that is individualized, practical, and centered on what matters most to you. I’m direct, and genuinely curious about the person behind the symptoms. I take time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and connect the dots between your mental health, physical health, relationships, lifestyle, and life experiences. My years caring for patients in both medical and psychiatric settings have taught me that meaningful treatment is rarely one-size-fits-all.

First session

Your first session is a conversation, not an interrogation. We’ll take time to understand what brought you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and how your mental health, physical health, relationships, lifestyle, and life experiences may be affecting one another. There is no pressure to have the “right” words or know exactly what you need before we meet. My approach is flexible and tailored to you. With adolescents, I balance their individual voice with appropriate parent or guardian involvement; with adults, we focus on your priorities, experiences, and goals. When family dynamics are relevant, we can explore how those relationships may be influencing your well-being and treatment. Your privacy and emotional safety matter. What you share is treated confidentially within the limits of applicable law and professional responsibilities, including situations involving immediate safety concerns or required reporting. I’ll explain these boundaries so you know what to expect. By the end of our first session, I want you to feel heard, respected, and clearer about what comes next. We’ll discuss my clinical impressions, answer your questions, and develop a personalized plan together—which may include therapy, medication, lifestyle strategies, further evaluation, or a combination of approaches. Most importantly, you should leave with a clearer understanding of your options and a path forward that we’ve developed together.

Strengths

I bring a unique blend of psychiatric expertise, family medicine, and years of hospital-based clinical experience to each session. That background has taught me to look beyond symptoms and consider how physical health, medications, relationships, culture, lifestyle, and life experiences may intersect with mental well-being. My style is warm, attentive, and straightforward. I will give you space when you need to be heard, but I’m also not afraid to ask difficult questions, respectfully challenge patterns that may be holding you back, or offer a different perspective. Life and clinical experience have taught me that growth sometimes requires both support and accountability. I value open communication and shared decision-making, so treatment is something we build together—not something that simply happens to you.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is an adolescent or adult who may be navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, stress, sleep difficulties, relationship challenges, burnout, or a significant life transition. You may appear to have everything together while privately feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or simply not like yourself. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. What matters is a willingness to be open, curious, and involved in the process. You may be looking for medication management, therapeutic support, or a thoughtful combination of both. Together, we’ll identify what is getting in the way, build practical strategies, and work toward greater emotional stability, confidence, daily functioning, and a quality of life that feels meaningful to you. If you’ve been telling yourself you should be able to handle it on your own, or you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to seek help, consider this your invitation to start. Reach out when you’re ready. We’ll begin where you are, identify what you need, and build a path forward together.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, explore healthier perspectives, strengthen coping and problem-solving skills, and develop practical strategies for managing symptoms. CBT techniques may complement psychiatric evaluation and medication management and are tailored to each client’s needs and treatment goals.

I felt heard and understood by Dr. McMorris. She was very generous with her time and did not conclude the session until we had reached a satisfactory outcome. I left the session with a clear goal and plans to revisit in a month. Dr. McMorris is caring and thoughtful and I would recommend her to anyone.
