Hello :) My name is Tricia and I’m a licensed professional counselor with over ten years of experience in the mental health field! I consider myself to be a caring, down-to-earth and thoughtful counselor who wants the best for others. I believe that we are all capable as humans to heal and influence our lives beyond our greatest imaginations. I also believe that while transformation can feel heavy at times, it can also be fun, interesting and more cathartic than many know.
In our first session I will ask you to share more on any experience with counseling, what brings you to therapy now, your main goals for the next few months, any preferences you have for counseling and I will go over a bit on what I have to offer. I like to explain what a typical session looks like for me, approaches I use, initial impressions on what you share and ways I typically work with clients going through similar situations as you. We will then collaborate on how many sessions might work best for you, your recommended frequency of visits, scheduling processes and other logistics.
My approach is eclectic and tailored to your changing needs. I give honest reflections while seeing you as your own expert. I aim to help clients achieve their goals as soon as possible in an authentic, manageable and meaningful way. I specialize in working with reflective and deep feeling individuals who are struggling to connect the way they want with themselves, others and life. I help to provide clarity and with developing a roadmap to better manage thoughts, emotions, behaviors and relationships.
Patricia Taglialavore offers therapy covered by Husky Health and Medicaid in Connecticut.
With CBT I help you to become more assertive, have healthier boundaries, foster healthier relationships and become more of a rational thinking vs worrying, taking thinks personally, filtering out the positive, etc.
Using REBT I challenge clients to examine "should" thoughts which create and exacerbate suffering. I provide techniques and resources for decreasing unrealistic expectations and frustration.
I support clients with making meaning out of their experience and becoming more stoic. I invite you to see yourself as the main character of your own life, embodying the power of the here and now to unlock new possibilities.
I would say that I provide more psychoeducation in sessions than the average counselor. Because of my extensive background with group counseling, my style involves explaining concepts in depth, giving multiple examples and providing a wide array of personalized suggestions on an ongoing basis throughout the counseling process.
