Elaina Chance

LPC (she/her)22 years of experience

I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism. In our work together, you will be met with empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, creating an environment where you can feel truly seen and heard. I'm here to support you in navigating life's challenges, empowering you to discover your inner strength and find your own path toward healing and growth."

First session

Our first session is a safe space for you to share your story and for us to get to know each other. This is not about a quick fix or following a rigid plan; it's a chance for you to be truly heard and seen. We will begin by exploring what brings you to counseling, whether it’s a specific career concern, feeling overwhelmed by stress and anxiety, or the desire to improve your self-esteem. You lead the conversation. My role is to listen attentively and provide a non-judgmental, empathetic presence. We'll work on building a foundation of trust so you can feel comfortable being open about your thoughts and emotions. Together, we'll begin to understand your experience and identify the areas you'd like to focus on. We'll explore how negative self-talk and certain emotions may be holding you back. My goal is to help you start recognizing your own strength and worth, so you can feel empowered to make positive changes in your life and career.

Strengths

I believe in empowering you to access your inner resources for growth and healing. Together, we will work to identify and challenge the thought patterns and emotional responses that lead to negative self-perception. By creating a trusting and empathetic relationship, I provide a space where you can explore your emotions without judgment, leading to greater self-awareness and the ability to make confident, intentional choices in your life.

Ideal clients

I am best positioned to serve clients who are navigating significant life transitions (i.e., relationship and career changes), seeking to build self-esteem, and manage stress. My approach is well-suited for individuals who want to reframe negative self-talk and its impact on their mindset and actions.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Working from a person-centered perspective, this approach emphasizes the client-therapist relationship, where trust, psychological safety, respect, and honesty are paramount to achieving successful change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My goal is to help my clients achieve results based on action, rather than relying on behaviors that may keep them complacent. I help clients examine their core behaviors and develop a personalized change strategy that assesses their true readiness and willingness to make a change.
