I’m Mary Blake, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, evidence-based care for adults navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and life stress. I offer a supportive space to understand your experiences, explore your goals, and develop a clear, practical treatment plan.

My therapeutic approach stands out because it integrates both evidence-based medication management and psychotherapy in a way that is personalized and easy to understand.

My approach blends therapy and medication management to help you feel more balanced, confident, and in control of your life.

First session

During our first session, I will complete a thorough intake and assessment so I can fully understand what has brought you in. We’ll explore your symptoms, stressors, medical and mental health history, and any concerns you have about how you’ve been feeling. This session is focused on listening, understanding your experience, and getting a clear picture of your needs. During the second session, we’ll review your assessment together and discuss a prospective treatment plan. I will explain your options, answer your questions, and make sure you feel informed and included in every step. Together, we will decide on a treatment approach that aligns with your goals—whether that includes medication management, supportive therapy, or both—and begin putting the plan into action. My goal is for you to feel understood, informed, and empowered from the very beginning.

Strengths

My therapeutic approach stands out because it integrates both evidence-based medication management and psychotherapy in a way that is personalized and easy to understand. I explain symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment options clearly, so you never feel confused or alone in the process. I focus on helping you build insight, challenge unhelpful patterns, and strengthen coping skills while targeting symptoms with appropriate medication when indicated. This collaborative, structured approach helps clients see steady progress and long-term improvement.

Ideal clients

I specialize in working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and high levels of stress. I’m particularly effective with individuals who are motivated to improve their mental health, open to treatment recommendations, and looking for a combination of medication management and supportive, evidence-based therapy. My approach works well for clients seeking clarity, symptom relief, and improved daily functioning.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the primary therapeutic approaches I use in my practice. I incorporate CBT because it is structured, goal-oriented, and highly effective for the conditions I treat—such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, ADHD, and stress-related concerns. In my work with patients, I use CBT to help them understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and how distorted or automatic thoughts can influence their mood and daily functioning. Together, we identify these patterns, challenge the unhelpful beliefs, and replace them with more realistic and supportive ways of thinking.

Compassion-Focused

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is an approach I integrate into my work to help patients who struggle with self-criticism, shame, guilt, or chronic feelings of not being “good enough.” Many individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and high stress carry an inner harshness that intensifies their symptoms. CFT helps soften that inner voice and build a more balanced, self-supportive mindset. In my practice, I use CFT to help patients understand how the brain responds to threat—especially emotional threats—and why self-criticism becomes such an automatic response. From there, we work together to cultivate a more compassionate, grounded perspective toward themselves.

Racial trauma treatment

As a provider experienced in supporting individuals impacted by racial trauma, I create a therapeutic environment that is affirming, safe, and grounded in cultural humility. Many of my patients experience stress, anxiety, depression, identity-based wounds, or chronic emotional exhaustion related to racism — whether from workplace discrimination, microaggressions, community violence, systemic inequities, or generational experiences of oppression. In my practice, I approach racial trauma with the understanding that these experiences are real, valid, and deeply impactful on emotional and physical well-being. I take time to understand each person’s lived experience and how racism has shaped their relationships, self-worth, safety, and stress responses.

Supportive

Supportive Therapy is a core part of my therapeutic approach. I use it to help patients feel grounded, understood, and emotionally supported as they work through stress, anxiety, mood symptoms, life transitions, or overwhelming responsibilities. This style of therapy focuses on strengthening a patient’s ability to cope by providing validation, encouragement, practical strategies, and a safe space to express their thoughts and emotions.
