About me

Hi! I'm Katherine, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centered therapy for adolescents and adults. I believe that everyone has a unique story, and I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem concerns, trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by everyday stress, struggling with past experiences, or navigating a significant life change, therapy can provide a space to better understand yourself and develop the tools needed to move forward. I believe therapy should be both supportive and empowering. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership where we work together to explore your experiences, build on your strengths, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. Throughout the process, I am committed to honoring your autonomy, cultural background, and lived experiences while tailoring treatment to your individual needs and goals. Seeking support takes courage, and I deeply value the trust it takes to begin therapy. My goal is to help you gain greater self-awareness, strengthen resilience, and build confidence as you create a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. Wherever you are in your journey, I look forward to walking alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and genuine support.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and it's normal to feel a mix of emotions before your first appointment. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another. I'll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, your personal history, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about my approach and determine whether we're a good fit. Together, we'll begin identifying your strengths, discussing your concerns, and exploring goals that are meaningful to you. While the first session is primarily focused on understanding your unique experiences, you may also leave with practical coping strategies or tools that can help between sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that meaningful change happens within a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to explore your experiences and empowered to grow. My approach is affirming, collaborative, and tailored to your individual values, needs, and goals. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation to provide practical, evidence-based tools that promote insight, emotional wellness, and lasting change. Together, we will identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build on your existing strengths, and develop strategies that support growth in your relationships, work, and daily life. I value curiosity, empathy, and genuine connection, and I believe that each person is the expert on their own life. My role is to support, challenge, and encourage you as we work together toward the goals that matter most to you.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready for change, you may be in the right place. My ideal clients are individuals who want to better understand themselves, improve their emotional well-being, and develop practical skills to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, or a major life transition. Perhaps you're feeling emotionally exhausted, struggling to manage stress, caught in patterns that no longer serve you, or simply looking for a safe space to process your experiences and move forward. Whether you're seeking support for a specific challenge or looking to invest in your long-term personal growth, we'll work together to identify your strengths, explore barriers that may be keeping you stuck, and create goals that align with your values.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, the way we think about a situation influences how we feel and how we respond to it. Sometimes these patterns are helpful, while other times they can keep us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life we want to live. In therapy, we'll work together to identify unhelpful thought patterns, explore where they may have developed, and evaluate whether they are serving you today. Rather than focusing on "thinking positively," CBT encourages balanced, realistic thinking that can reduce emotional distress and improve decision-making. We'll also examine behaviors that may unintentionally reinforce anxiety, depression, or other challenges. Together, we'll develop practical strategies to help you respond differently, build healthier habits, and increase confidence in managing difficult situations.

Humanistic

A client-centered, humanistic approach is based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood as we work together toward your goals. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to your unique experiences, values, strengths, and needs. I believe that meaningful change happens when you feel accepted for who you are while also being supported in exploring new perspectives, developing healthy coping skills, and building on your existing strengths. Our sessions are collaborative and guided by what is most important to you. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping you gain insight, strengthen self-awareness, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Strength-Based

A strengths-based approach focuses on recognizing and building upon the abilities, qualities, and resources you already possess. While therapy provides space to process challenges and difficult experiences, it also helps identify the resilience, skills, and personal strengths that can support your healing and growth. Rather than focusing solely on what's wrong, we'll explore what's working, celebrate your progress, and identify the strengths that have helped you navigate life's challenges, even if you don't recognize them yet. Together, we'll build on those strengths while developing new coping skills and strategies to help you overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.
