Jason Batanides
I’m a licensed therapist specializing in co-occurring mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and bipolar disorder and addiction/alcoholism. I work with individuals who feel stuck in cycles they genuinely want to break—whether that’s , unhealthy relationships or feeling overwhelmed. My approach is direct, compassionate, and grounded in real-life application. I draw from evidence-based modalities like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, but I focus just as much on helping you actually use these tools in your day-to-day life. Therapy with me isn’t just about insight—it’s about change, accountability, and building a better life. Clients often tell me I’m easy to talk to, honest without being harsh, and able to balance structure with flexibility. I’m not a “blank slate” therapist—I show up as a real person in the room, and I value authenticity on both sides. I’ll challenge you when needed, support you when it’s hard, and help you stay focused on your goals.
First session
In your first session, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, understood, and begin building trust. We’ll talk through what’s bringing you in, your background, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out—this is a space to start wherever you are.
Strengths
One of my core strengths as a therapist is my ability to balance honesty with empathy. I create a space where clients feel understood and supported, but I’m also direct and willing to challenge patterns that keep people stuck. My approach is grounded, practical, and focused on helping you apply what we talk about in real life—not just gaining insight, but actually making meaningful changes.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is functioning on the outside but feels stuck internally—whether in relationships, stress, anxiety, or self-doubt. They may be navigating a life transition or feeling off track, and are beginning to recognize that something needs to change. They don’t need to have everything figured out, but they’re open to being honest with themselves and willing to do the work. They’re looking for more than just a space to vent—they want clarity, direction, and practical tools they can apply in their daily life. They value a collaborative approach and want a therapist who is supportive but also direct. Ultimately, they’re motivated to grow, build confidence, and create more stability in their life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a practical, structured approach to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In sessions, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, explore how they influence feelings and actions, and work together to develop more balanced and effective ways of responding to stressors. I also integrate mindfulness to help clients build greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses in the present moment. This increased awareness supports clients in recognizing what is driving their behavior before reacting automatically, allowing more intentional and skillful responses to stress and triggers. CBT in my practice is highly collaborative and goal-oriented, with a strong focus on applying skills in real-life situations. Clients are encouraged to practice strategies outside of sessions, such as thought reframing, behavioral experiments, and coping skills, so progress extends beyond the therapy room. My approach is flexible and tailored to each client’s needs, combining structure with openness so therapy feels both practical and personally meaningful.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use Person-Centered–Humanistic Therapy by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and respected. I emphasize authenticity, empathy, and collaboration, allowing clients to lead the process while I provide reflection, support, and gentle guidance. My goal is to help clients deepen self-awareness, build self-acceptance, and move toward personal growth at their own pace.
