I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, currently licensed in Florida and New York. I received my masters from Iona University, where I started my clinical experience with couples, individuals, and families. I work with couples who are navigating challenges in their relationships, families who are facing challenges with communicating and engaging in healthy conflict resolution, and individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression.
During our first session, I will always ensure to incorporate brief introductions and a space to answer any questions regarding the process, especially if this is your first experience with seeking therapy. We will dive right in to the challenges that bring you to therapy and your goals, which will help me with tailoring your individualized plan for future therapy sessions.
I work from an integrative approach and have used techniques from various therapy modalities to best fit the client's therapy goals and needs. I work from a systemic approach, meaning that I focus on the systems you are navigating rather than focusing on you and your identified problem in isolation. I compassionately connect with clients and help them uncover narratives they've unknowingly subscribed to and which influence their perspectives and views, working to shift those narratives to more appropriately align with their values and goals.
I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families who identify relational and emotional concerns that are keeping them stuck in negative cycles of communication and conflict resolution, and are ready to learn healthy ways of communicating, engaging, and regulating emotions through life's highs and lows.
Making the decision to start therapy is both a brave and scary step - you are allowing yourself the step of being vulnerable with someone you don't know. My goal is always to incorporate a compassion focused approach, meeting clients where they are on their journey. In my experience, compassion goes a long way in helping clients feel comfortable and supported, allowing for readiness to make a change.
As a marriage and family therapist, I have been trained in couples therapy from the very beginning. When working with couples, my focus is to identify the challenges the couple is having and working collaboratively towards therapy goals, all while ensuring both individuals feel heard, validated, and supported throughout their couples therapy journey.
I have been trained in EMDR, completing training in 2022. When appropriate, I incorporate this modality to help clients work through past experiences and memories that are contributing to current stressors, anxiety, and trauma symptoms. Through reprocessing past experiences, clients are able to see significant progress in improvement in symptoms, often in a shorter time frame than with other therapy modalities.
