Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Connecticut. I received my Masters degree from Southern Connecticut State University and have been practicing for 15 years. It is my passion to connect with and support those struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, relationships, and parenting. I facilitate the process of changing old patterns, coping with stressors, improving relationships/communication, and reconnecting with inner strengths. I am humbled by past clients describing me as "kind, caring, understanding, non-judgmental, and down to earth" as well as "intelligent, knowledgeable, engaging, insightful, and compassionate."

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. It is helpful for me to understand how you got to where you are today and why you are seeking counseling right now. It is also helpful for me to know of any prior therapy experience/s in order to understand what is meaningful for you. If you and I feel that we are a good fit for your treatment needs and goals, we will then create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. In order to have healthy boundaries and expectations, we will review session scheduling and no show/cancellation policies and procedures toward the end of the session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having counseled clients from age 4 up to age 95 and been living a full life with my own personal challenges, I have developed a warm, empathetic, creative and compassionate style. This relational style creates a comfortable, non-judgmental space for processing and working through life challenges/transitions. My therapy "superpower" is that clients tell me they immediately feel comfortable opening up to me! It is also a strength of mine to collaborate with clients to identify the root cause/s of their challenges. I then utilize tailored techniques to target these areas so that my clients see progress in their mental health, develop coping tools, establish healthier relationships, and experience a greater sense of self-esteem.

My treatment methods

Supportive

I utilize a strengths-based approach in my practice. I strive to provide a safe, collaborative environment for processing and coping with life challenges/transitions. At times, I may also provide resources and/or "homework," which will increase your knowledge and support your treatment progress.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Utilizing a non-judgmental stance, I will help you to become more aware of and curious about your inner workings. As a result, you will discover how old patterns in thinking, emotions, behaviors, and body sensations may be holding you back. We will reframe your negative automatic thoughts/core beliefs by applying adaptive thinking strategies.

Relational

I am highly attuned to my clients and their needs. At times we will be "processing the process" in how you relate in session and interpersonally with others in your life. We will work to improve your communication and connections within your relationships.

EMDR

I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy when clinically indicated in order to reprocess upsetting, traumatic memories and any related uncomfortable sensations. This modality will help reconnect you with your adaptive healing capabilities. I truly believe in the importance of the mind-body connection!

Narrative

You will feel seen, heard, and understood while I actively listen to your life stories. This often leads to realizations about your life purpose, past victories, inherent strengths, and future goals. You will re-author a version of your "best self" in the context of your mental health/stressors. This modality is very empowering as it aids with making meaning of your life as well as identity formation.
