Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting, supportive relationship. During this session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking services, current concerns, personal strengths, and treatment goals. I will ask questions about your emotional and mental health, substance use, family, social, and life experiences to gain a better understanding of your unique needs. Together, we will identify priorities and develop a plan to support your growth, healing, and overall well-being. The session is conducted in a safe, nonjudgmental, and confidential environment where you are encouraged to share at a pace that feels comfortable for you

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a strengths-based therapist, I believe that every individual possesses unique abilities, resilience, and untapped potential for growth and healing. I bring a warm, authentic, and nonjudgmental approach that helps clients feel comfortable, heard, and respected from the very first session. One of my greatest strengths is my natural ability to build positive rapport and create a safe environment where clients can openly discuss their concerns without fear of criticism or stigma. I understand that starting therapy can create feelings of anxiety or uncertainty, and I work intentionally to reduce those feelings by meeting clients where they are, listening with empathy, and collaborating on goals that reflect their values and aspirations. My focus is on helping clients recognize their strengths, build confidence, and develop practical strategies to support lasting change and overall wellness.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am committed to serving adolescents, adults, and older adults ages 12 and up who are experiencing challenges related to substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, and co-occurring mental health concerns. I will provide culturally responsive, person-centered services designed to meet individuals where they are in their journey. Through innovative, evidence-based approaches and a strengths-focused model, I will empower clients to build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, overcome barriers to wellness, and achieve meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to create a supportive environment where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive emotionally, mentally, and socially.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, person-centered counseling approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. MI can be effectively used with adolescents (ages 12 and older) and adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use disorders by fostering collaboration, empathy, and personal empowerment.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a strengths-based, goal-oriented approach that can be used to support individuals ages 12 and older who are experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. Rather than focusing on problems or past difficulties, SFBT helps individuals identify their strengths, existing resources, and successful coping strategies to create positive change. Through collaborative conversations, goal setting, and exploring exceptions to problems, individuals are empowered to build practical solutions, increase resilience, improve emotional well-being, and support recovery from substance use and mental health challenges.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals with mental health and substance use disorders develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors without judgment. By teaching skills such as mindfulness meditation, breathing exercises, and grounding techniques, individuals learn to manage stress, reduce emotional reactivity, cope with cravings, and improve emotional regulation. This approach can help decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma-related distress, and substance use while promoting overall well-being, self-awareness, and long-term recovery.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment approach that helps individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. TF-CBT assists individuals in understanding the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while developing healthy coping skills to manage trauma-related symptoms. Through psychoeducation, emotional regulation strategies, cognitive restructuring, and gradual processing of traumatic experiences, individuals can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and substance use, while improving overall functioning, resilience, and recovery.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences that may contribute to mental health and substance use disorders. Through the use of bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, EMDR helps the brain reprocess unresolved memories, reducing their emotional intensity and negative impact. EMDR can help decrease symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use by addressing underlying experiences, improving emotional regulation, and supporting long-term recovery and overall mental wellness.
