Do you ever feel like your painful thoughts, feelings, and memories get in the way of reaching your full potential? Maybe it seems like most people are handling life's challenges better than you are. You find yourself asking if your life could be more meaningful, more fulfilling. What is the purpose of everything I have been through? I want to help you explore and answer the big questions in your life and I am passionate about helping you improve your self-esteem and self-worth. My specialization and experience in trauma work stems from my belief that unresolved trauma can have a significant impact on our mental health and well-being and these painful experiences and memories can make it difficult to enjoy life and fulfill our potential. Our work together will help you identify, explore, and process the impact of trauma wounds big and small. I consider myself a recovering people-pleaser and a forever work-in-progress. I believe learning about and improving yourself is a lifelong process that we are all a part of. Rather than think of myself as an expert, I aim to support you during this phase in your life as a fellow traveler because I also understand the struggle of trying to sort through and make meaning of past hurts.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of your journey and recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to make that first step of seeking therapy. During our first session we will review assessments and information provided on the intake questionnaire. We also will identify and explore meaningful goals as we get to know each other, make sure we are a good fit, and collaborate on a therapeutic approach that accommodates your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I love having deep conversations and exploring life's big questions! My approach is non-directive and laidback. I am comfortable with sitting with the uncomfortable.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with young adults experiencing phase of life problems impacted by trauma. Many of my clients may struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, and confidence. We will work together to increase self-compassion and self-esteem, including tools to manage difficult thoughts and feelings in these areas.

My treatment methods

Integrative

I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed interventions to help clients manage their symptoms, process trauma, and reclaim their lives.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I integrate trauma-focused strategies from my history of working as a counselor at a children's advocacy center for over 5 years with individuals who experienced childhood trauma. TF-CBT helps clients build skills to gradually approach their trauma, explore and process their traumatic experience, and then integrate the experience of trauma into their broader life story and identity.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. EMDR focuses on reducing the emotional distress linked to painful memories by using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or tapping) to reprocess these memories in a more adaptive way. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require clients to extensively discuss their trauma but instead helps them reframe distressing experiences, reducing their emotional impact. EMDR can also be helpful for depression, anxiety, and other concerns related to difficult past experiences.
